Music With Nick is a longstanding Families Forward Learning Center program that use games, songs, and instrument exploration to build foundational skills in rhythm, pitch, and coordination. Most of our preschoolers in today’s video have known Nick since they were infants! Generously made possible by a grant from for the Arts.

Two-year-olds absolutely love the magic of dressing up as princesses. At this age, it is an amazing way to encourage imaginative play, role-playing, and creativity.
Introducing preschool age children to new adults requires patience, familiar routines, and a safe, gradual approach. By keeping initial interactions short, having familiar caregivers close, and using interactive play, you can help children build trust and confidence with teachers, family members, or caregivers.
Jumping from one balance beam to another is an excellent, fun way for preschoolers to develop gross motor skills, spatial awareness, and confidence. It requires them to judge distance, control their bodies in mid-air, and execute safe landings.
Two-year-olds pretending to be trains is an iconic and developmentally brilliant milestone. During this stage, they process their physical environment, practice social skills, and find immense joy in rhythmic, whole-body movement. It is their way of making sense of a big world by mimicking it.
It is incredible how their minds work! Preschoolers are natural “creative geniuses” because their brains are highly flexible, open to endless possibilities, and free from the rigid rules of how “things are supposed to be.”
Infant “tummy time press-ups” are crucial developmental milestones that build the neck, shoulder, and core strength required for rolling over, sitting, and crawling. Babies typically start pushing up on their forearms around 2-4 months and progress to pressing up on extended hands by 5-6 months.
They say two-year-olds don’t have “friends” in the traditional sense and that their socialization primarily involves playing alongside peers (parallel play) rather than with them, as they are still developing crucial skills like sharing, empathy, and communication. We beg to differ. 🤗
Two year olds are an absolute blast! They’re at a magical stage where rapid brain growth transforms them into tiny, hilarious humans with blossoming imaginations, expanding vocabularies, and a newfound sense of independence.
