Help families in foster care reunite: become a Family Connect Coach/Monitor Training will be held Saturday, June 6 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday, June 13 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Become a trained volunteer coach monitor and provide court ordered supervised family visits so that children, removed from the care of their parents, can visit their parents in a physically and emotionally safe setting. Our visitation sites are filled with toys, games, books and art materials to provide a comfortable environment for children and their parents to have positive experiences together. We are especially interested in bilingual volunteers who speak Spanish. The visits will take place in an agency setting that provides strict health and safety protocols to protect the coach monitor and the families in Pasadena, Glendale (DCFS office), South Pasadena, or El Sereno. STORY OF INSPIRATION: The new Miss Kentucky, Ariana Rodriguez, is using her platform to help others who have faced similar struggles as her. Growing up in the foster care system, Ariana experienced immense challenges. By the age of 16, she found herself homeless, living out of her car. Despite these hardships, Ariana found her voice and purpose in founding the Lucky Ones Foundation while she was a senior in high school. This nonprofit, based at the University of Kentucky, is dedicated to amplifying the voices of youth who have experienced the foster care system and educating the public about the challenges they face.

Congratulations to Shaun Kadlec (and featuring Foster Care Project's own Alex Ballantyne) for winning an Emmy for Possible Selves - a brilliant and insightful examination of life in foster care. Alex is a Foster Care Project steering committee member and Shaun's been a great friend to All Saints Church - sharing his work on Possible Selves and Born This Way. How great that a gifted, insightful artist gets recognition.

It’s such a great event, every year, and All Saints Church Foster Care Project is proud to be a part of it. Only 4% of foster youth earn a 4-year college degree; join us in supporting these remarkable youth.

Back to school backpacks: Donate backpacks and school supplies so that foster kids can be ready for school this fall. Bring donations to the welcome table Sundays through July 17. Donations can be dropped off at the front office weekdays through July 31.
