“A baby is gone, and the State of Mississippi has called it justified without publicly showing the evidence behind that decision,” said Mississippi Democratic Party Chairman Cheikh Taylor.

“Mississippians deserve a chief law enforcement officer who treats the life of a one-year-old as the most serious question a prosecutor can ask. Attorney General Fitch wants to be the next governor, and the standard for that job begins with the willingness to show the public her work. Kohen’s family, and every family in this state, deserve a full public accounting. We stand with them, and we will keep standing with them until they get it.”

Kohen Wiley was a baby. He deserved protection. He deserved a future. His family deserves answers.

Attorney General Lynn Fitch has declared the officer’s use of force justified. The Mississippi Legislative Black Caucus condemns that decision and demands the evidence, a public explanation and an independent review.

Release the video. Explain the findings. Give Kohen’s family the opportunity to review the footage before its public release, with respect for their wishes and dignity.

Black lives deserve equal protection. Black families deserve truth and accountability. We stand with Kohen’s family.

Thank you, Jackson County Democratic Executive Committee, for organizing a great crowd at Tootsie on the River in Moss Point.

I'm grateful to everyone who came out to talk about what's at stake for families in Jackson County.

We talked about healthcare.
We talked about people working two and three jobs at the shipyard and still not getting ahead, about car insurance and home insurance nobody can afford, and about seniors who need a ride to the doctor and a ride to the polls.

As a veteran, I also know what it means to come home and find the benefits you earned on the table.

Communities like Moss Point are too often overlooked.
I believe every county matters and every vote has to be earned.

That's why I'm showing up across this district, listening first and then fighting for what folks here need.

These families have done their part.
It's time Washington did its part.

Mississippi Won't Wait.
