Pasco residents: another important budget meeting is happening today.

The Pasco City Council will hold a special budget meeting at 4:00 PM at City Hall to review additional scenarios for the city’s 2027–2028 budget and the potential impacts of those choices.

The meeting is open to the public and will also be streamed live through the City of Pasco’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

If you’ve been following the city’s budget discussions, this is another opportunity to hear the options being considered, follow the discussion, and make your voice heard.

A Pasco-grown company is entering a new chapter.

Matheson Industrial, a local provider of industrial coatings and surface-treatment services, has been acquired by Granite Creek Capital Partners and Columbia Basin Partners.

Matheson has built a business serving industrial and municipal customers across the West, helping protect and maintain critical infrastructure. Its new ownership says it plans to build on that foundation and support continued growth.

It’s always worth paying attention when a business built here in Pasco attracts investment from beyond our region.

We’ll be interested to see what comes next for Matheson and its team.

Washington’s new income tax comes with a cost.

A new economic analysis projects that the tax would leave Washington with about 7,800 fewer jobs and $4.9 billion less economic output in 2028.

By 2036, the projected employment loss grows to nearly 18,800 jobs.

The question isn’t just how much government collects. It’s what Washington’s economy gives up in return.
