🔥 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2026 🔥
“Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.”

October 4–10 marks Fire Prevention Week, a time dedicated to educating our community about the simple steps we can all take to prevent fires and keep our families safe.

This year’s theme focuses on something nearly all of us use every day — rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. From cell phones and tablets to laptops, power tools, toys, e-bikes, and other devices, these batteries have become a part of everyday life. When damaged, improperly charged, or used with the wrong equipment, however, they can create a serious fire hazard.

⚡ Charge safely by remembering to:
• Use the charger and battery designed for your device.
• Charge devices on hard, stable surfaces and away from combustible materials.
• Stop using batteries that are damaged, swollen, unusually hot, or showing other signs of failure.
• Unplug devices once they are fully charged.
• Never block an exit with a charging e-bike, scooter, or other battery-powered device.

🏫 Throughout Fire Prevention Week, members of the Pascoag Fire Department and fire departments throughout the Town will be visiting our local schools to conduct fire prevention presentations and safety demonstrations. These visits give our firefighters an opportunity to work directly with students, teach important fire and life-safety lessons, answer questions, and help build safe habits at an early age.

Fire prevention isn’t something we practice for just one week each year. The lessons learned this week can make a difference every day — at home, at school, and throughout our community.

This Fire Prevention Week, take a few minutes to look around your home, talk with your family, check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, review your escape plan, and make sure everyone knows how to charge into fire safety! 🔋🔥

SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 — SEPTEMBER 11, 2026
25 Years Later — We Will Never Forget

Today, the members of the Pascoag Fire Department join our nation in solemn remembrance as we mark the 25th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Twenty-five years have passed since a clear September morning forever changed our country. For those who lived through that day, the images, sounds, fear, heartbreak, courage, and unity remain impossible to forget. For the generations born since, it is our responsibility to ensure that the story of September 11th—and the lives and sacrifices behind it—are never forgotten.

Today, we remember the moments that forever became part of our nation's history:

🕗 8:46 AM — American Airlines Flight 11 strikes the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

🕘 9:03 AM — United Airlines Flight 175 strikes the South Tower of the World Trade Center.

🕤 9:37 AM — American Airlines Flight 77 strikes the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.

🕙 9:59 AM — After burning for 56 minutes, the South Tower collapses.

🕙 10:03 AM — United Airlines Flight 93 crashes near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after courageous passengers and crew fought back against the hijackers aboard their aircraft.

🕥 10:28 AM — After burning for 102 minutes, the North Tower collapses.

On this anniversary, we especially remember the first responders who ran toward unimaginable danger while thousands of others were trying to escape.

🚒 343 Firefighters
🚔 37 Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Officers
🚓 23 New York City Police Department Officers
🚑 8 Emergency Medical Services Paramedics and EMTs
⚖️ 1 New York State Court Officer
🛡️ 2 members of the FBI family

They answered the call knowing the danger before them. They climbed stairwells while others descended. They treated the injured, guided strangers to safety, maintained order amid chaos, and continued working until the towers came down.

Behind every number was a person—a parent, spouse, sibling, child, friend, coworker, and public servant who did not return home that day.

We also remember every innocent life taken in New York City, at the Pentagon, and aboard Flights 11, 175, 77, and 93, along with those who survived the attacks but carried their physical and emotional scars forward.

And 25 years later, we continue to remember the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, paramedics, military personnel, construction workers, volunteers, and countless others who participated in the rescue and recovery efforts and later became sick or lost their lives from illnesses associated with their service at Ground Zero and the other attack sites.

September 11th showed us humanity at its worst—but it also showed us courage, sacrifice, service, and unity at their greatest.

May we remember not only how our nation came under attack on September 11, 2001, but how Americans stood together on September 12th.

25 years later, we remember.
25 years later, we honor their sacrifice.
25 years later, we keep our promise.

Never Forget.

343 — We Will Never Forget.

Earlier today, fire and EMS agencies from throughout the region responded to a significant Hazardous Materials / Mass Casualty Incident in Burrillville, working alongside East Burrillville Fire Department units to provide patient care, hazardous materials mitigation, decontamination, water supply, and additional operational support.

As a result of the incident, five patients were transported to area hospitals for further evaluation and observation due to injuries, while numerous additional individuals were evaluated outside of the facility by EMS personnel.

Incidents involving hazardous materials can quickly become extremely complex and have the potential to impact a significant number of people. The rapid identification of the hazardous materials involved, combined with the quick recognition of the need for additional resources, allowed specialized teams, EMS units, and fire companies to be requested early and begin working toward controlling the situation.

The tremendous cooperation between all agencies involved was instrumental in bringing this incident under control and, most importantly, ensuring the safety of countless others who could have potentially been affected.
Pascoag Fire Department units responded with Engine 44 and Rescue 4, joining an extensive mutual aid response that included:

• Harrisville Rescue 2 and Ladder 2
• Harmony Rescue and Tanker
• West Glocester Rescue
• Douglas Rescue
• Smithfield Rescue
• Cumberland Paramedic Unit 2
• Lincoln Rescue 2, Engine 8, and Ladder 5
• Foster Rescue 1
• North Scituate Rescue
• North Providence Rescue
• Millville Tanker
• North Smithfield Tanker
• East Putnam Engine
• Woonsocket HazMat Team
• East Providence HazMat Decontamination Team
• Providence Canteen

We cannot say enough about the professionalism, teamwork, communication, and tremendous assistance provided by every department and agency involved. Large-scale incidents such as this demonstrate exactly why strong mutual aid partnerships are so important to the fire and emergency medical services.

From the initial crews who recognized the hazards and immediately began requesting the appropriate resources, to the EMS personnel evaluating and treating patients, the specialized HazMat and decontamination teams mitigating the hazard, and the firefighter's supporting operations throughout the incident—everyone involved played an important role in ensuring this incident was handled safely and effectively.

Outstanding work by East Burrillville Fire Department and every mutual aid agency involved in today’s response. This was truly a team effort and an excellent example of departments coming together when their communities need them most.

Earlier today, Pascoag Fire Department units were dispatched for a reported boat fire on the water with a full tank of fuel on board.

Incidents like these can present a number of unique challenges, including limited access, available resources, the number of people involved, and, most importantly, the safety of everyone on and around the water. Our crews responded without delay and were able to quickly bring the fire under control and extinguish it.

While we are proud of the work of our firefighters, the real purpose of this post is to recognize the incredible actions of our community.

Before and during our arrival, members of the community stepped up without hesitation to help ensure the occupants of the vessel made it safely off the water. Others assisted by providing our apparatus and crews with the access needed to reach the incident and operate effectively.

Today was another reminder of what makes our town so special. When someone needed help, neighbors and community members didn’t hesitate—they simply stepped up and did what needed to be done.

We are incredibly grateful and honored to serve a community filled with people who look out for one another, especially when it matters most.

Great work by our crews, but truly outstanding work by the members of our community who helped bring this incident to a safe conclusion.

From all of us at the Pascoag Fire Department, thank you for looking out for your neighbors and for one another. This is what community is all about. 🚒

🚒 Celebrating 250 Years of America & 139 Years of Service 🚒

This Independence Day, the members of the Pascoag Fire Department proudly join our nation in celebrating a historic milestone—the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America.

For a quarter of a millennium, our nation has stood as a symbol of freedom, resilience, and opportunity. As we reflect on the sacrifices and achievements that have shaped our country since 1776, we are reminded of the importance of community, service, and patriotism.

This year also marks another milestone close to home: 139 years of service by the Pascoag Fire Department. Since 1887, generations of dedicated members have answered the call to protect life and property in our community. We are honored to continue that tradition today and grateful for the support of the residents we proudly serve.

As we gather with family and friends to celebrate this holiday weekend, we ask everyone to do their part to keep our community safe:

🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals and follow all local laws.
🔥 Never leave grills, fire pits, or cooking equipment unattended.
🚗 If you're celebrating, designate a sober driver and never drive impaired.
🚨 Keep emergency vehicles and personnel in mind when traveling.
🏊 Always supervise children around water and wear life jackets when appropriate.
🌡️ Stay hydrated and take precautions during periods of hot weather.

From our firehouse family to yours, we wish everyone a safe, happy, and memorable Independence Day as we celebrate 250 years of American freedom and 139 years of service to the Pascoag community.

Happy 4th of July!
