🚨 PASS CHRISTIAN, WE CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS! 🚨

Seriously, there is absolutely NO excuse for this!

Someone took the time to load up three old tires, drive them somewhere, and dump them on the side of one of our roads. The frustrating part? There is a place right here in Harrison County that accepts old tires for proper disposal!

Instead of doing the responsible thing, someone decided to make their trash everyone else’s problem.

Our roadsides are NOT dumping grounds. Our neighborhoods are NOT landfills. And our Public Works crews have better things to do than clean up after people who simply don’t care.

♻️ HERE’S WHERE YOU CAN TAKE YOUR OLD TIRES:

📍 Rockco-McFarland Household Hazardous Waste Site
10076 Lorraine Road, Gulfport, MS 39503

🗓️ Open the 2nd Saturday of each month, 8:00 AM – Noon (subject to schedule changes).

📞 Weekday drop-offs available by appointment: (228) 896-0206.

Tire disposal rules:

* Up to 5 tires per visit.
* Maximum 25 tires per household per year.
* Tires must be OFF the rims.
* No tractor tires.

The facility also accepts certain paints, oils, batteries, electronics, and other household hazardous waste.

It’s really that simple. There is a legitimate disposal option available, and dumping tires along our roads is completely unnecessary.

We take pride in Pass Christian. Our residents, businesses, and city employees work hard to keep our community beautiful. It’s disappointing to see that effort disrespected by someone who couldn’t be bothered to dispose of their trash properly.

If you have enough energy to load tires into your vehicle and dump them on the roadside, you have enough energy to take them where they belong.

🚫 STOP THE ILLEGAL DUMPING. RESPECT OUR COMMUNITY. KEEP THE PASS BEAUTIFUL!

🚒 **A-Shift in Action | Pass Christian Fire Department** 🔥

At approximately 4:00 AM this morning, A-Shift responded to a woods fire and worked together to bring it under control.

Through consistent training, strong teamwork, and effective communication, our crew was able to successfully and efficiently extinguish the fire. Incidents like this highlight the importance of preparing for the unexpected and trusting in the skills and abilities of the team beside you.

The hard work put in during training pays off when it matters most. We’re proud of A-Shift for their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to serving and protecting our community — even in the early morning hours.

**Train together. Work together. Serve together.** 💪🚒

🚒🔥 A SMALL MISTAKE THAT COULD HAVE BECOME A BIG FIRE!

This past week, Pass Christian Fire Department responded to an alarm activated by a monitored fire and smoke detection system at a residence.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered a pot had been left on the stove and its contents had burned. Fortunately, the detection system alerted us before the situation developed into an actual structure fire!

🚨 This is exactly why early detection matters!

Today, there are all kinds of monitored fire and smoke detection systems available, from affordable, homeowner-installed smart detectors to professionally installed and monitored alarm systems.

Some systems can send alerts directly to your phone, while others use a monitoring service that can notify emergency responders, even when you’re away from home.

🏠 A few things to remember:
✅ Never leave cooking unattended.
✅ Have working smoke alarms throughout your home.
✅ Consider a monitored detection system for an added layer of protection.
✅ Test your alarms regularly and make sure everyone knows what to do when they sound.

Smoke alarms save lives. Monitored systems can help get help on the way even when nobody is home to hear the alarm.

In this case, early detection helped turn what could have been a serious fire into a relatively minor incident.

🔥 Fire prevention isn’t always about stopping mistakes. Sometimes it’s about having the right protection in place when mistakes happen.

🔥⚠️ FIRE DANGER – PLEASE REFRAIN FROM OUTDOOR BURNING THIS WEEKEND

With dry conditions and increased winds expected this weekend, the Pass Christian Fire Department is urging everyone to avoid outdoor burning until conditions improve.

While conditions have not yet met the criteria for an official burn ban, the combination of dry vegetation, low humidity, and gusty winds can allow even a small fire to spread quickly and become difficult to control.

We are asking residents to voluntarily refrain from burning brush, leaves, debris, or starting any other outdoor fires until we see more favorable weather conditions.

🚒 A fire that may be manageable under normal conditions can quickly get out of hand in windy, dry weather.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping us protect our homes, property, and community. A little extra caution now can prevent a much larger problem later.

Stay safe, Pass Christian!

🚒💕 Girls love fire trucks too! 👩‍🚒❤️

Sometimes all it takes is one visit to the fire station to spark a dream!

From the first time this little girl walked through our doors, you would have thought she'd already completed Firefighter I & II! 😂 She knows her way around the station and isn't afraid to tell these firefighters what they need to be doing! We may have a future chief on our hands! 🤣🚒

But this is why we love what we do. You never know how much a simple visit or a little bit of your time can mean to a child.

Little girls can have big dreams of helping others and serving their community too! ❤️

We sure hope her love for the fire service never fades, and maybe one day she'll be riding that fire truck as one of our own!

Until then, guys, y'all better stay on your toes. She's watching! 😂🔥
