EYE IN THE SKY: FOOT PURSUIT ENDS IN ARRESTS

There is nowhere to hide when officers are working together from the ground to the sky.

Drone footage captured a foot pursuit that ended with the arrest of individuals accused of committing motor vehicle burglaries in Paterson.

With officers on the ground and an eye in the sky, PPD continues to use technology and coordinated police work to hold those responsible for criminal activity accountable.

COLD WEATHER REMINDER: DON'T LEAVE YOUR CAR RUNNING UNATTENDED

Colder weather is expected this weekend, and while it may be tempting to start your car and let it warm up, leaving it running unattended can make it an easy target for theft.

Before heading out, remember:

Stay with your vehicle while it warms up.
Never leave your keys or key fob inside an unattended vehicle.
Lock your doors and take your keys with you whenever you leave.

A few minutes of warmth aren't worth coming back to an empty parking spot.

Help us keep Paterson's vehicles and property safe this weekend. Stay warm, stay alert, and don't give thieves an easy opportunity.

The delivery notification says it arrived. How long will it sit outside?

As online shopping picks up, a package left unattended can be an easy opportunity for a thief.

Take a few simple steps to protect your deliveries:

• Track deliveries and bring packages inside as soon as possible.
• Consider delivering to your workplace, a trusted neighbor, or a secure pickup location.
• Turn on delivery notifications so you know when a package arrives.
• Use a doorbell or security camera when possible.
• Ask a trusted neighbor to collect deliveries if you will be away.
• Report suspected package theft to police and save any available video or delivery information.

A little planning can help keep your purchases out of the wrong hands.

The Paterson Police Department mourns the loss of Philadelphia Police Officer Shane Seiber, who was killed in the line of duty after he and his partner were ambushed while responding to a call in West Philadelphia.

Officer Seiber, a 10 year veteran, was a husband, father of two young children, and a dedicated public servant. His partner was also seriously wounded in the attack and continues to recover.

This senseless act of violence is a devastating reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face every day while answering the call to serve and protect. Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Seiber’s family, his wounded partner, and the entire Philadelphia Police Department during this heartbreaking time.

May Officer Seiber rest in peace. We will never forget the sacrifice he made in service to others.

Nearly 1,900 domestic violence incidents have taken place in Paterson so far this year. Behind every incident is a reminder of why awareness, support, and access to resources matter.

Domestic violence can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstances. Recognizing the signs, checking in on someone who may be struggling, and connecting survivors with support can make a difference.

The Paterson Police Department wants our community to know that help is available. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, you are not alone, and support is available when you are ready to reach out.

School safety takes all of us.

In this reel, an officer stops a driver who turned through a crosswalk while children were still crossing.

On the way back, the officer issued a ticket to an unattended vehicle that was double parked, creating a hazard for pedestrians and other drivers.

Slow down. Yield to pedestrians. Keep crosswalks clear. Don’t double park.
