How does Bunnelle Days of Service work?
One question we've heard is: How were projects selected for Days of Service? The answer starts with listening.
When developing Days of Service, the Foundation invited six organizations and community groups already serving Georgetown County to participate: Belin Memorial UMC, Caring & Sharing, Friendship Place, Habitat for Humanity of Georgetown County, Hammerheads, and Lowcountry Veterans.
Because these organizations are already working alongside residents and responding to housing needs, they brought projects from the community forward and identified where repairs could make homes safer and more accessible. Team Bunnelle leaned on the knowledge and experience of organizations already doing this work and focused on where we can add value: providing grant funding and resources to help make these projects possible.
Days of Service is an example of what can happen when communities lead the way. We are meeting people where they are, supporting the work already happening across Georgetown County, and investing in solutions shaped by the people closest to the need.
That's the heart of this effort: community members, community organizations, volunteers, and funders all playing a role in making Georgetown County stronger, one project at a time. π
