🚴 Big Sugar Gravel Race – Saturday, October 17

The Big Sugar Gravel race will be coming through the Pea Ridge area this Saturday, October 17.

Most of the race route stays around the outskirts of town, but a portion of the shorter race will travel down Hayden and Weston, crossing Slack Street.

Law enforcement will be working throughout the event to keep traffic moving as safely and efficiently as possible while also protecting the cyclists. We ask everyone to please be patient and expect some traffic delays, especially during the first part of the day.

Bike traffic should begin to lighten up after lunch.

Please use extra caution when driving in these areas, watch for cyclists, and give them plenty of room.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to keep everyone safe.

PART-TIME EVIDENCE TECHNICIAN Pea Ridge Police Department – Civilian Position

$16/hour | 8–16 hours per week Flexible scheduling after training.

THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL CLERICAL POSITION.

This position involves handling, documenting, storing, and disposing of criminal evidence, including materials associated with violent crimes, sexual offenses, and other serious investigations.

Applicants must be prepared to:

Handle potentially hazardous, graphic, or disturbing evidence.

Perform physical duties, including lifting at least 50 pounds.

Maintain strict confidentiality regarding criminal investigations and protected information.

Qualifications: Must be 18 or older, possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license, and pass a comprehensive background investigation. Relevant experience preferred but not required.

It was an honor to start the morning at 5:30 a.m. at the police academy campus in Springdale, where 33 cadets came together to honor Officer Kevin Apple by completing the 1212 Workout.

The workout consists of running 12 laps, totaling 3 miles, with 12 burpees after each lap for a total of 144 burpees.

Among those cadets was our very own Jeremiah Mashburn, who will be graduating from the academy in just a few weeks. We’re proud of Jeremiah and all of the cadets who took part in honoring Kevin’s memory.
