We look forward to Fire Prevention Week at Clermont Elementary every year, but this year was extra special!

The Lancaster County Firemans Association brought out their new fire safety simulator trailer, giving students a hands on opportunity to learn what to do during different emergency situations.

Students learned how to block the bottom of a door to help prevent smoke from entering, how to feel a door for heat before opening it with the red section of the door actually warming up, and what to do during common kitchen and grilling emergencies. The simulator even demonstrates how to shut off the propane supply during a grill fire and how placing a lid over a burning pot can help smother the fire by cutting off its oxygen supply.

Throughout the day, an incredible 405 students and 28 adults came through the simulator trailer!

We’re grateful for the opportunity to spend another year teaching fire prevention and giving students hands-on experiences that can help them know what to do in a real emergency.

A huge thank you to Clermont Elementary and the Lancaster County Firemen's Association for helping make this year’s Fire Prevention program such a great experience! 🚒🔥

For this evening’s training, we focused on first aid and making sure our members are prepared when medical assistance is needed.

Members spent time familiarizing themselves with the first aid bags carried on our apparatus, including where equipment and supplies are located for quick access. We also reviewed and practiced taking blood pressure, using an AED, and properly handling and using oxygen equipment.

Knowing where your equipment is and how to use it can make all the difference when every second counts. Training today so we’re ready when our community needs us.

Sharing again! It’s closer then you think!!

Our annual Halloween Trunk or Treat event is quickly approaching us!

This absolutly spooktacular event will be held at our fire house at 2271 Robert Fulton Highway from 6-8PM. Hot dogs, snacks, and assorted refreshments will be available.

We are looking for any kind of set-up you can come up with to help make our event super-spectacular for the kids!

Last year we had so many great displays, from truck tractors to school buses, a garden tractor to many, many trunks. And this year we would like to make it bigger yet!!

We are hoping for many more!!

Please prepare to be staged and set up no later than 5:30 for the safety of the children.

We ask that only larger vehicles need to preregister so we can rope off enough space. Please send us a message or make a post here to let us know what you are bringing so we can reserve a larger space for you. Passenger vehicles do not need to preregister.

For this evening’s training, we focused on two minute drills along with hose packing. These simple but important drills help keep our crews ready when every second counts.
