🍀 The Giles County 4-H Pollinator Club met yesterday to get organized and plan out their year! These 4-Hers decided to learn more about bees and butterflies, complete one community service project, travel to a flower garden, and complete their project book. They ended their club meeting by making beeswax lip balm. We love their enthusiasm and desire to learn more about this vitally important part of our environment.

Join Giles County Cooperative Extension for Drought Management for Beef Cattle, presented by Dr. John Currin of Virginia Tech.

With drought conditions putting added pressure on pastures, forage supplies, and cattle operations, this program will provide practical strategies to help beef producers make informed management decisions.

Dr. Currin will discuss considerations for managing cattle during drought, including forage and feed availability, supplementation, early weaning, culling decisions, herd health, and strategies for reducing grazing pressure while maintaining cattle productivity.

This event is actually two separate events this year: livestock-focused versus horticulture-focused! Spend more time diving deeper into your area of choice! This event will also offer an optional wagon ride tour of the farm. Speakers included VT faculty, extension agents, and industry leaders!

🍀We wrapped up our 4-H Summer Day Camps with a beautiful day at Dandelion Ridge Flowers. Our kids cut their own flowers, learned how to make an arrangement, and created a "flower frog" to help decorate their vases. We are so thankful to Jessica for sharing her knowledge and space! Plans are already underway for a fall workshop! 🍀
