Today, members of the PRFD swift water rescue team conducted a swift water rescue drill with members of the Nanuet Fire Department. This a newer initiative that we have been working on, with members heading up to the NYS preparedness training center for Swift Water technician. Today, members went over throw bag and reach operations with shore personnel and tethered “go” rescues of personnel in the water. A good drill done by all! It has come to our attention that there is someone out there claiming to be selling Excelsior Fire Engine Co. merch. This is a SCAM, the only official channel for merch to be posted is through our Facebook or Instagram page. What this person is claiming to be selling is not official merch and has no affiliation to the Excelsior Fire Engine Co. Thank you.

The Blauvelt Volunteer Fire Company mourns the loss of Jamie O'Connell, wife of firefighter Kevin O'Connell.

Losing Jamie after her brave 12.5-year fight with cancer is heartbreaking. She was a loving mother, wife, and friend whose spirit touched so many. This fundraiser is just getting started, and sharing helps so much in these early days. Even if you can't donate, a quick share can help it reach others who may want to support her family during this difficult time.

Today at 13:46, PRFD along with our mutual aid partners Nanuet Fire Department and West-Nyack Fire-Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire. Upon the arrival of the first due Engine and truck (12-Tanker and 12-78), crews were met with a heavy smoke condition in the basement. We stretched a crosslay off the tanker as a precaution, but once crews searched the basement, they found a burnt up mini fridge. The fridge was isolated and crews ventilated the structure. Thank you to all of our mutual aid partners who assisted.
