๐๐ Whatโs happening in Texas public education, and why does it matter to our Cubs?
The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) recently adopted its 2026โ2028 Advocacy Agenda, outlining priorities it hopes state lawmakers will consider during the upcoming legislative session.
Hereโs what that means for our students and families:
๐ซ Safer Schools: More resources for campus security, student safety, and mental health support.
๐ Special Education: Funding for individualized services, student evaluations, and specialized staff.
๐ Supporting Educators: Recruiting and retaining qualified teachers and school employees through improved compensation and benefits.
๐๏ธ Local Decision Making: Giving school districts flexibility to meet the unique needs of their communities.
๐ Accountability and Transparency: Encouraging meaningful measures of student success and consistent accountability for schools receiving public funds.
๐ Investing in Students: Supporting early childhood education, counselors, school nurses, transportation, and other essential services.
Why are we sharing this? Because decisions made at the state level can affect the resources, opportunities, and support available to our Cubs every day!
As a PTA, we believe informed families are empowered families. Staying informed about education policy helps us better understand the decisions that shape our childrenโs education.
