Pearland Police Arrest Two Suspects in Jugging Investigation
PEARLAND, Texas – On October 14, 2026, at approximately 1:24 p.m., Pearland Police Officers responded to a business located in the 2500 Block of Pearland Parkway regarding a reported “jugging” incident involving the burglary of a motor vehicle.
The victim reported visiting a bank in Houston before traveling to the Pearland business. While inside, she was notified that her vehicle had been burglarized. The victim told officers that, while at the bank in Houston, she observed a gray Nissan Pathfinder parked next to her vehicle, with a woman entering and exiting the bank. A witness at the Pearland business reported seeing a male wearing a gray sweatsuit and a face covering exit a gray SUV and break into the victim’s vehicle.
Pearland Police Crime Analyst utilized the Flock license plate reader (LPR) system to identify the suspect vehicle as a gray Nissan Pathfinder bearing a California Temporary Tag. The suspect vehicle was located on Flock LPR near the Baybrook Mall area.
Pearland Police Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Detectives responded to the area of Baybrook Mall and located the suspect vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 45. Detectives followed the vehicle to a bank near Edgebrook Drive in Houston. Pearland’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), Harris County Precinct 2 Constables, and the Houston Police Department (HPD) assisted with the investigation.
During surveillance, investigators observed the gray Nissan Pathfinder follow a Dodge Ram from the bank near Edgebrook Drive to another bank parking lot near Harrisburg Boulevard in Houston. Detectives then observed the occupants of the Nissan Pathfinder remove its license plates. Shortly afterward, the Nissan parked perpendicular to the Dodge Ram. A male exited the Nissan’s rear passenger seat, smashed a window of the Dodge Ram, and began rummaging through the vehicle, while the driver of the Dodge Ram was inside of the bank.
Officers and deputies from the Pearland Crime Reduction Unit, HPD, and Harris County Precinct 2 conducted a vehicle takedown. The male suspect and female driver were taken into custody.
The suspects, identified as Charles Randle and Crystal Lewis, both of Houston, were arrested and charged with Jugging – Committing Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, a third-degree felony. Charges were filed in both Brazoria County and Harris County.
The Pearland Police Department reminds residents to remain aware of their surroundings when conducting banking transactions. Individuals involved in jugging schemes may follow victims from financial institutions to other locations before targeting their vehicles. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, secure valuables out of sight, and report suspicious activity to law enforcement.
The Pearland Police Department thanks all participating agencies for their coordinated efforts and the investigative work that led to the suspects’ arrests.
