Atkinson County School System Veterans Day Program

Atkinson County Middle/High School is proud to host a special program honoring the men and women who have served our country. Veterans, families, and community members are warmly invited to attend!

📅 Date: Monday, November 9, 2026
☕ Time: 8:45 a.m.—Refreshments for veterans
🕤 Program Start Time: 9:30 a.m.—Veterans Day Program
📍 Location: Atkinson County Middle/High School

The program will feature a special performance by the Valdosta High School NJROTC.

🚗 Parking: Available at the rear of the school, behind the gym lobby.

📢 ACSS Update for Families
Atkinson County School System is aware of the City of Pearson’s sewer lift station issue and is closely monitoring the situation. At this time, we do not expect the issue to affect restroom use at our schools.

We also want to remind families that today, Wednesday, October 14, is a scheduled half-day. All schools will dismiss early as planned on the school calendar.

We will notify families if the sewer issue requires any changes to school operations. Thank you for your understanding and support.

El Sistema Escolar del Condado de Atkinson está al tanto del problema con la estación de bombeo de aguas residuales de la Ciudad de Pearson y está monitoreando la situación de cerca. Por el momento, no se espera que este problema afecte el uso de los baños en nuestras escuelas.

También queremos recordarles a las familias que hoy, miércoles 14 de octubre, es un día de jornada reducida programado. Todas las escuelas tendrán salida temprana, según lo previsto en el calendario escolar.

As part of **Georgia Pre-K Week**, our Pre-K students took a virtual trip to the Atkinson County Schools Technology Department, and our Kindergarten students joined in as well!

Mr. Jeffery Harrell, Director of Technology, gave the students a tour of his office and the district server room through Google Meet. The students got to see some of the technology that keeps our schools connected, along with a few of his Marvel collectibles. 🦸‍♂️🕷️🛡️⚡️💥

It was a fun way for our youngest students to see what goes on behind the scenes at their schools!

🏆 THREE ATKINSON COUNTY SCHOOLS HONORED WITH THE JOHN HANCOCK AWARD!
Congratulations to Pearson Elementary, Willacoochee Elementary, and Atkinson County Middle School on receiving the John Hancock Award!

Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods joined Superintendent Dr. Melissa Wilbanks, Tamara Morgan, Curriculum/Pre-K Director, and Kimberly Gillis, Director of Federal Programs and CTAE, along with principals, teachers, and students, to celebrate this achievement.

🎉 Pearson Elementary and Willacoochee Elementary received this award for the second time! We are proud to celebrate both schools for earning this recognition again.

👏 Atkinson County Middle School also earned this honor! Congratulations to the ACMS students, teachers, staff, and leadership on an achievement worth celebrating.

❤️ Students, you are at the heart of this celebration! Every time you ask a question, practice a new skill, or keep trying when a lesson is difficult, you take another step forward. Your effort and progress matter, and we hope you feel proud of the part you played in helping your school earn this recognition. We are proud of you!
