Suffolk County is asking residents to report damage through New York State’s Damage Self-Reporting Tool for any damages associated with the September 25 - 27 Nor'easter to your primary residence or business. The purpose of this form is solely to collect information that may help State and local officials identify supplemental damages to develop and augment potential requests for available federal assistance programs.

Examples include:
·Repairable damage that does not affect the home’s structure. Ex: substantial flooding inside, damage to personal property.
·A tree falling into the home or structural damage that requires extensive repairs.
·The home or business is a total loss.
·Floodwater entering the business and damaging inventory or equipment; a tree striking the building; or roof, wall, or electrical damage requiring extensive repairs.
·The business's building or its contents are destroyed, or the business cannot safely operate because of the damage.

What is not eligible:
·Damage to your vehicles
·Damage to your fence line, or retaining walls

Report the damage even if you are unsure how serious it is. Add photos if it is safe to take them.

Homeowners should still contact their insurance agencies. If flooding or debris is blocking access and you cannot yet assess the damage, include that in your report.

Please note: This report helps document the storm’s impact; it is not an application for financial assistance.

25 years later, we honor the lives lost and the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We remember the police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and all who ran toward danger to protect others.

We remember their families, the survivors, and all those whose lives were forever changed that day.

Their courage and sacrifice remain an enduring reminder of our duty to serve and protect our communities.

We will never forget.
