PCVAC at the Peekskill Rotary Club Fall Festival!

Today, PCVAC was on standby with Special Operations Rehab 7506, 75U1, and Cortlandt-Peekskill RPS at the Peekskill Rotary Club Fall Festival.

While our crews provided event coverage, 75B1 and 75B4 remained available to cover City of Peekskill 911 calls.

During the standby, EMT Loja took the opportunity to donate blood at the New York Blood Center blood drive being held at the festival.

As a reminder, one blood donation can save up to three lives!

A big thank you to all of our volunteers who gave their time today to help keep our community safe and provide coverage throughout the festival. We appreciate everything you do!

Wednesday morning, Peekskill EMS gathered amongst healthcare professionals, colleagues and other emergency service agencies to celebrate the career of Dr. John McGurty Jr.

Dr. McGurty served as Medical Director for New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital and Cortlandt Regional Paramedics. More importantly served as a teacher and mentor to many in EMS, a friendly face to those in the community, and a trusted physician to his patients.

As he made his final walkout from Hudson Valley Hospital we reflected on his numerous achievements and his everlasting impact that he has had on Emergency Medicine and more importantly the community.

Congratulations on your retirement. We wish you the best of luck your future endeavors and we will miss you.

Bear Mountain Bridge Rd is much deserving of it’s nickname “The Goat Trail.” With its many mountainside twists and turns, this road demands caution while driving, especially in wet, slippery conditions.

Peekskill EMS has responded to a total of 14 MVAs on the Goat Trail during the month of September. We urge drivers, even the most experienced ones, to use more caution when driving.

🚑 Congratulations, Jake Polay! 🚒

Please join us in congratulating PCVAC Member EMT/Driver Jake Polay on beginning his new career as a Firefighter with the Lake Mohegan Fire District! 👨‍🚒🔥

Jake has been a valued member of PCVAC since 2021, serving our community as an EMT and Driver. During his time with PCVAC, Jake has dedicated thousands of hours volunteering and serving the Peekskill community.

Jake has also served as the Chairperson of the Oxygen Committee and has been an active member of Special Operations Unit 7506 – Rehab, contributing his time and experience whenever needed.

We are incredibly proud to see Jake take this next step in his career and know he will serve the Lake Mohegan Fire District with the same dedication and commitment he has shown to PCVAC and our community.

Congratulations, Jake! We wish you continued success, stay safe, and the very best in your new career! 👏🚒

Once PCVAC, always family! 💙🚑

Local 2956 proudly congratulates the Lake Mohegan Fire District’s newest Probationary Firefighters:

Jake Polay — Badge 105
John Ramos — Badge 106
Dominick Catalfamo — Badge 107
Chris Murphy — Badge 108

Today, these four firefighters officially began their journey through the Westchester County Career Chiefs Fire Academy, taking the first steps toward becoming career firefighters and serving the residents of our community.

The road ahead will be challenging, demanding, and rewarding. They will learn the skills, discipline, teamwork, and traditions that define the fire service while building the foundation for a long career of service.

From all of us at Local 2956, congratulations and welcome to the family. We’re proud to have you as part of the team and look forward to watching you grow.

Train hard. Stay humble. Watch each other’s backs.

Last Tuesday, PCVAC participated in Continental Village Vol. Fire Department extrication training. Fire and EMS units “responded” to an a car in a ditch with positive extrication. CVFD got to work making access to the patient. Together PCVAC and CVFD used the scoop backboard to extricate the “patient” from the front of the vehicle.

Training like these help our members keep their skills sharp and up to date, free of cost. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering please apply online through the link in the bio or at www.pcvac.org
