Today is World Mental Health Day, and we couldn't think of a better day to introduce the newest member of the Pekin Police Department family... Coco.

Coco is a 2-year-old black Labrador Retriever with a very special job. As our support service dog, she's here to bring comfort to people during some of life's most difficult moments.

Whether she's comforting a child, supporting someone in crisis, sitting with a victim during an interview, or simply offering a calm presence, Coco has a special way of helping people feel safe and cared for.

Mental health matters, and sometimes healing doesn't come from having all the right words. Sometimes it comes from a wagging tail, a gentle nudge, and the reminder that you don't have to face life's challenges alone.

Around the department, Coco has already made a difference. She brings smiles wherever she goes, and we're excited for our community to experience the comfort and compassion she'll provide for years to come.

Please join us in giving Coco a warm welcome to the Pekin Police Department!
On this World Mental Health Day, remember to check in on those around you, reach out if you need help, and never be afraid to ask for support.

I can speak for the entire department... the mood around the office just seems a little better whenever Coco reports for duty.

Welcome to the team Coco!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to come together with compassion, hope, and unwavering support for those whose lives have been forever changed by breast cancer.

This disease has touched countless families in our community. It has challenged mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, wives, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. It has brought moments of fear and uncertainty, but it has also revealed incredible strength, resilience, and the power of love.

To those who are currently fighting this battle, please know that you are not fighting alone. Our community stands beside you, cheering for every victory, praying through every setback, and believing in your strength on the days when you may not feel it yourself.

To the survivors, thank you for inspiring us with your courage and reminding us that hope is stronger than fear.

To the families, friends, caregivers, and loved ones who walk this journey alongside someone they love, your compassion, sacrifice, and unwavering support do not go unnoticed.

And to those we have lost, we honor your memory. You are deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

From all of us at the Pekin Police Department, we send our love, encouragement, and support to every person and every family affected by breast cancer. You are in our hearts today and every day.

On this 25th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, we honor the memory of the 2,977 innocent lives taken, the courageous first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and the countless heroes whose bravery and selflessness inspired a nation.

Twenty-five years later, the events of that day continue to remind us of the strength, resilience, and unity of the American people. We remember the police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, military members, and everyday citizens who ran toward danger to help others without hesitation.

As members of the law enforcement profession, we proudly stand alongside all those who continue to serve and protect our communities. We also remember the families who continue to carry the weight of that tragic day in their hearts.

Today, we ask our community to join us in taking a moment to reflect, to honor those we lost, and to never forget the courage and sacrifice that emerged from one of our nation's darkest days.

We will never forget.
