If approved, by law, County Schools Facility Sales Tax revenue can be used for:

•School Safety and Security: Fire prevention, life safety, School Resource Officers, and Mental Health Providers.

•Facility Improvements: Roof repairs, energy efficiency, additions, renovations, durable equipment, new facilities, and more.

Each school district maintains local control over funds and decides how to use them to address the unique needs of its school community.

What’s Taxed and What’s Not Under the County Schools Facility Sales Tax Proposal

Did you know? The proposed County Schools Facility Sales Tax only applies to items that are currently subject to Illinois sales tax. Here’s what won’t be taxed:

•Groceries
•Prescription medications
•Vehicles (cars, trucks, boats, RVs, mobile homes)
•Farm equipment, parts, and inputs
•Personal/professional services (haircuts, accounting, legal services, etc.)
•Wholesale purchases

What will be taxed? Only items that are currently taxed under Illinois law. For example:

•Prepared foods (restaurants)
•Retail purchases (clothing, electronics, etc.)
•Online sales

The Junior High Band had a great time celebrating homecoming Friday night with Rankin, Georgetown, and the High School Marching Dragons. The combined band was 250 members strong!
