This week’s Student of the Week is Hadleigh Puls! 🐾

Here’s what her teacher had to say about her:

“Hadleigh is a kind, respectful, and hardworking student who consistently goes above and beyond to do what is expected of her. She is always willing to lend a helping hand to her classmates and treats her teachers and peers with kindness and respect. Her positive attitude and caring personality make her a joy to have in class. Hadleigh truly is a bright light in every room she enters, and she sets a wonderful example for those around her!”

We are so proud of Hadleigh and the positive example she sets for her fellow Panthers! Help us congratulate her on being our Student of the Week! 🖤💛🐾

DJHS parents and guardians, we encourage you to join the Parent Book Study hosted by Pell City High School and take part in meaningful conversations about supporting our students in today’s digital world! 🖤💛🐾

The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt explores how smartphones, social media, and changes in childhood may be affecting young people’s mental health and social development. For our high school students, these topics connect directly to the pressures they face; from constant online comparisons to distractions, friendships, and the need to feel connected.

As both a principal and a parent, I believe this book study would be a valuable opportunity for us to network, connect, share experiences, and learn alongside one another. We don’t have to have all the answers. My hope is that we can build stronger relationships between families and our school while exploring practical ways to support our kids together.

💛 Spreading Kindness, One Card at a Time! 💛

Our HOPE Squad members have been hard at work hand-designing over 600 kindness cards! Today, they had the opportunity to spread a little positivity by passing them out to students throughout Duran Junior High School!

October is Kindness Month, and HOPE Squad wants to remind everyone that even the smallest act of kindness can make a BIG difference! 💛

We challenge everyone to say something kind or positive to at least one person every day this month. You never know how much your words might mean to someone! 🫶

Choose kindness. Spread positivity. Make a difference! 💛

Yesterday, 8th grade students in Mr. Traffanstedt’s class had the opportunity to explore exciting career paths through the Be Pro Be Proud mobile workshop!

Through hands-on virtual reality experiences, students tried their hand at welding, operating manufacturing robots, running an excavator, and even performing surgery!

What an incredible opportunity for our Panthers to explore future careers and discover new possibilities! 🖤💛

🍎🖤💛 TEACHER TUESDAY! 💛🖤🍎

We’re kicking off Teacher Tuesday by spotlighting our DJHS TEACHER OF THE YEAR, MRS. AMY PHILLIPS! 🏆🐾

Mrs. Phillips teaches 8th grade math and has experience teaching everything from 4th grade math to Algebra II! Her favorite part of teaching is seeing those special “a-ha!” moments when students finally understand a concept and gain confidence in their abilities.

Outside of school, she loves spending time with her family, especially her new baby nephew! A couple of fun facts: She was born on the 4th of July and can quote A Few Good Men almost word for word!

We are so thankful for Mrs. Phillips and the difference she makes at DJHS! Help us celebrate our Teacher of the Year! 🖤💛🐾

October is National Principals Month! 🍎🏫

Our principals are the first to arrive and the last to leave. They’re in the hallways, the car lines, the classrooms, and the stands on Friday nights. They celebrate wins big and small, support our teachers, and make sure every student knows they belong.

To all of our principals: thank you for everything you do, seen and unseen. We are so grateful for you!

💬 Now it’s your turn! Drop a comment and shoutout a Pell City principal who has made a difference for you or your child. Let’s show them some love! 👇
