🚒National First Responders Day 🚒

Today, on National First Responders Day, South Greenville Fire District would like to recognize and thank the dedicated firefighters and dispatchers who serve our community every single day.

To our firefighters who answer the call, run toward danger when others run away, and work tirelessly to protect lives and property — thank you for your courage, your sacrifices, and your commitment to keeping our community safe.

To our dispatchers, the calm voices behind the scenes who answer the calls for help, gather critical information, and send our crews where they are needed most — thank you for being the lifeline between someone in need and the help coming their way. Your work may not always be seen, but it is an essential part of every emergency response.

Whether answering calls in the communications center or responding in the fire truck, every member plays a vital role in serving and protecting our community. It takes a team, and we are proud of the men and women who make up ours.

To all first responders, thank you for your service, your dedication, and the sacrifices you and your families make. We appreciate you today and every day! ❤️

🔥 Congratulations, Bryson Taylor! 🔥

South Greenville Fire District is proud to recognize Firefighter Bryson Taylor for successfully completing his “Ashes to Iron” probationary period!

This milestone represents the hard work, dedication, growth, and commitment Bryson has demonstrated as he continues his journey in the fire service. As part of this tradition, Bryson received his South Greenville leather shield — a meaningful symbol of belonging to our department, accepting the responsibility that comes with wearing our name, and committing to serve our community with pride and professionalism. It marks the transition from probationary firefighter to a full-fledged member of the South Greenville Fire District family.

The leather shield is more than something worn on a helmet. It represents the brotherhood, tradition, sacrifice, and trust that connect the members who proudly serve under the South Greenville name.

Bryson, we are proud of the progress you have made and look forward to watching you continue to learn, grow, and serve. Welcome to the family! We’re glad to have you as part of the team. 🚒

Congratulations, Bryson! Welcome to the family — now let’s get to work! 🔥

🔥 CONGRATULATIONS, BRADY LEMIEUX🔥
Today we’re proud to recognize Brady Lemieux of A Shift as he officially completed his one-year probationary period with South Greenville Fire District!
With one year under his belt, Brady has earned the right to make a pretty special change — trading in his probationary shield for his very own South Greenville leather shield. 🛡️🔥
But that wasn’t the only milestone celebrated!
As part of the tradition, A Shift presented Brady with their challenge coin, officially welcoming him as a Flying Ace! ✈️🪙
That leather shield and challenge coin represent more than just something to carry or wear. They represent a year of learning, training, hard work, long shifts, new experiences, and becoming an important part of the South Greenville family.
Brady, congratulations on reaching this milestone! We’re proud to have you on the team and look forward to watching you continue to grow and serve our community.
Welcome to the leather, Brady — and congratulations, Flying Ace! 👊🔥✈️

🚒 Training Today for a Safer Tomorrow! 🚒
South Greenville Fire District is proud to have 19 members of our department attend the South Carolina Fire Academy’s Confined Space AOT (Awareness Operation Technician)!

Confined space incidents present unique challenges and risks for emergency responders. Training like this helps our firefighters strengthen their skills, build confidence, and prepare to respond safely and effectively when these challenging situations arise.

We are committed to continuous training and professional development to ensure our members are prepared to serve and protect our community when they are needed most.

🔥 CONGRATULATIONS, FIREFIGHTER Jonathan "JJ" SMITH! 🔥

Today, we recognize JJ Smith for successfully completing his one-year evaluation and officially coming off probation! 👏🚒

JJ completed “Ashes or Irons,” a tough, all-day evaluation designed to challenge his knowledge, skills, endurance, and ability to perform under pressure. This evaluation is no easy task, and completing it is a major milestone in his journey as a firefighter.

Coming off probation is more than just reaching a one-year mark. It represents a year of learning, hard work, dedication, and proving yourself as a member of the team. The fire service demands commitment, accountability, and the willingness to keep pushing when things get tough.

Congratulations, JJ, on reaching this milestone and earning your place as a firefighter beyond probation! Keep learning, keep pushing yourself, and never forget the responsibility that comes with the job!

The rookie year is behind you. Now the real work continues. 💪🔥
