The Robeson County Career Center curriculum includes Trade and Industrial Courses offered to the five area high schools for 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders.

The Robeson Career and Technical Education Center - CTEC was established for the purpose of offering students an opportunity to acquire basic technical skills to utilize in the 21st century. The courses are Adobe Academy, Automotive, Computer Engineering, Construction, Drafting, Electrical Trades, HVAC, Law & Justice, Masonry, Network Engineering, Pharmacy Tech, Plumbing, EMT/Public Safety and Welding. These basic trade and industrial skills enable completers to go to work with a specialized skill after high school or place them in a favorable position to continue their post-secondary education.

CTEC 10th Grade Showcase!

Today, CTEC opened its doors and welcomed 10th-grade students from all PSRC high schools for an exciting day of exploration and discovery!

Students had the opportunity to tour our facility, explore the various programs and courses offered at CTEC, and get a firsthand look at the hands-on learning experiences available to them.

We enjoyed showcasing the incredible opportunities CTEC has to offer and helping students explore pathways toward their future careers!

Today CTEC’s Culinary Department received a visit from Chef Keara Black, an Admissions Counselor from The Culinary Institute of America in New York. While visiting with our students they received a demonstration on how to make salt water taffy while she explained some of the science behind sugar working, a fundamental skill at CIA. Afterwards she also gave a presentation about the Institute itself including costs, scholarship information, and an over view of student life and course work.

Congratulations to Mr. Christian Chavis!

We would like to congratulate Mr. Christian Chavis, our Cybersecurity & Computer Engineering Instructor here at CTEC, on being selected as a recipient of the Bright Ideas Education Grant!

The Bright Ideas Education Grants program provides K–12 teachers across North Carolina with up to $2,000 to fund innovative, hands-on classroom projects that enhance student learning.

Mr. Chavis plans to use the grant funding to purchase portable monitors and keyboards to enhance classroom instruction and provide students with additional opportunities for hands-on learning.

We are proud of Mr. Chavis for his dedication to creating innovative learning experiences and expanding opportunities for our students here at CTEC!

⚖️ Bringing Real-World Experience into the Classroom at CTEC!

We would like to extend a special thank you to Assistant District Attorney Mary Jane Richardson for taking the time to visit CTEC today and share her knowledge, expertise, and real-world experiences with our students!

Opportunities like these provide valuable insight into the criminal justice system and align perfectly with the curriculum in our Public Safety course, taught by Mr. Jonathan Bell.

We are grateful to our community partners who help make these meaningful learning opportunities possible!
