Please use alternate routes:
• Westgate Overpass

Union Pacific estimates the crossings will remain blocked for at least one more hour.

Please plan for delays, use an alternate route, and avoid the downtown railroad crossings until the train has been moved.

OCTOBER IS OREGON PEDESTRIAN SAFETY MONTH
The Pendleton Police Department reminds everyone that pedestrian safety is a shared responsibility. Whether you’re behind the wheel or traveling on foot, a few extra seconds of attention can make all the difference.

KNOW YOUR CROSSWALKS - A crosswalk can be MARKED or UNMARKED.

Marked Crosswalk: A crosswalk identified by painted lines, stripes or other markings on the roadway.

Unmarked Crosswalk: At any intersections, the pedestrian crossing area is legally considered a crosswalk EVEN when there are no painted lines. Drivers should not assume that "no stripes" means "no crosswalk."

Drivers:
• Slow down and stay alert, especially near crosswalks, schools and busy intersections.
• Stop for pedestrians in crosswalks and never pass a vehicle stopped at a crosswalk.
• Keep your attention on the road.
• Be especially cautious at dawn, dusk and after dark.

Pedestrians:
• Use sidewalks and crosswalks whenever possible.
• Make eye contact with drivers before crossing — never assume you’ve been seen.
• Stay visible, especially at night.
• Avoid distractions and stay aware of traffic around you.

As daylight hours get shorter this fall, visibility becomes even more important.

Slow down. Look twice. Be seen.
Together, we can help keep everyone safe on Pendleton streets.

💜 OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH 💜

Domestic violence can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstance. This October, the Pendleton Police Department joins our community partners in raising awareness, supporting survivors, and reminding those experiencing abuse that help is available and you are not alone.

If you or someone you know needs support, local advocates are available throughout our region.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the families, friends, and communities forever changed by that day.

We remember the 2,977 people who never made it home. We honor the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military members, and ordinary citizens who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable circumstances.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the sacrifice, the bravery, and the overwhelming spirit of Americans coming together to help one another. Today, we honor those we lost, we remember those who served and WE WILL NEVER FORGET.
