Medicaid is a vital source of funding for healthcare in Tribal communities. Although many people assume that Indian Country relies only on the Indian Health Service, Medicaid reimbursements actually play a crucial role in supporting Tribal clinics, hospitals, behavioral health services, dental care, specialty services, and public health programs.
These funds help Tribal healthcare systems hire staff, expand services, upgrade facilities, and improve access to care for Native families.
What Tribal Citizens Should Do
Even though many new federal requirements do not apply to Native people, it is still important to:
• Keep your address and contact information current.
• Open and read all Medicaid notices.
• Respond promptly if Medicaid asks for additional information.
• Reach out to your Tribal health program or Medicaid office with any questions.

Call our assisters, Talia or Danielle for more information.
