NARRATIVE:

On October 2, 2026, at or about 12:02 AM, Marcus Chilson was arrested at the Yates County Public Safety Building for a bench warrant out of Ontario County. Mr. Chilson was transported to Ontario County, turned over to Ontario County Deputies, and held for arraignment.

Narrative:

On the above date and time Mrs. Fahien was issued a criminal summons from the Village of Penn Yan Court for the listed charges. The charges stem from an incident that occurred within the Yates County Jail on August 23, 2026. Mrs. Fahien will appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.

Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT)

On Wednesday, September 23, 2026 the Steuben County Sheriff's Office CERT performed a multi-agency contraband search at the Steuben County Jail.
Participating agencies included: Steuben County Sheriff's Office, St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, Tompkins County Sheriff's Office, Allegany County Sheriff's Office, Yates County Sheriff's Office and NYS Dept. of Corrections K9 Team.

YCSO Welcomes K9 Hobie

The members of the Yates County Sheriff’s Office would like to welcome K9 Hobie to our team, and congratulate Deputy Kevin Crofoot on his appointment as the newest K9 Handler! Hobie is a pure bred Bloodhound, the first in many years for YCSO. Hobie will be assigned to the YCSO Road Patrol Division, primarily focusing on trailing and tracking for the agency. Deputy Crofoot and Hobie have begun a rigorous training program, which requires meeting New York State and nationally recognized K9 Handling standards to become a certified team. The purchase of Hobie, similar to other YCSO K9s, is completely funded by community donations. We appreciate those donors that made this purchase possible!
