Both of our locations (Penn Street and The Center) will both be closed Monday, October 12, in observation of Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Both locations will reopen with regular operating hours on Tuesday, October 13.

🍽️FIRST MONDAY MEAL PROGRAM IS TOMORROW!🍽️

Tomorrow, October 5, is the October First Monday Meal!

The First Monday Meal was started in 2015 by a collection of area churches and organizations sensing a need in the community for food, socialization, and safe spiritual atmosphere.

Diners have two options for meals, both starting at 6:00 PM:

Upper Perk Community Church will be preparing and serving a sit-down meal at Pennsburg UCC, 775 Main Street, Pennsburg. The menu is roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots, rolls and butter, and apple crisp with ice cream.

St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church will be preparing and serving a drive-thru meal (until 7:00 PM) at New Goshenhoppen UCC, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville. The menu is turkey and cheese hoagies, chips, apples, and a sweet treat.

🎃👻COME VISIT US AT FIRST FRIDAY!👻🎃

Today, October 2, from 5:00 PM-7:30 PM, we'll be at Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce's UPV First Friday.

Visit us to chat with TOL staff and volunteers, learn more about our programs and services, a fun kids' craft, and more!

PLUS, we're collecting non-perishable food donations for our Pantry! Drop your donations off at our donation box to support our Valley neighbors in need.

This is the last First Friday of the year, and this month's theme is Halloween! Celebrate by wearing your favorite Halloween costume or Halloween-themed apparel and accessories.

🦃FOODIE FRIDAY - HELP US FEED HUNGRY FAMILIES THIS THANKSGIVING! 🦃

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, so we are happy to announce the return of our Thanksgiving Meal Distribution!

This program provides our Pantry participants and local individuals and families in need with Thanksgiving meal bags, which are tailored to household sizes and include ingredients for side items, as well as a turkey or a gift card for a turkey or ham (while supplies last).

Starting now, we are collecting the following items for our meal bags:

🦃Turkeys
🌽🫛Canned Corn and Green Beans
🍠Canned Sweet Potatoes
🥔Instant Mashed Potatoes
🍞Stuffing
🍗Gravy
🥫Cranberry Sauce
🍎Canned Fruit/Applesauce
💳$20 Gift Cards for a Turkey or Ham (Redner’s or Weis preferred)
🎁Grocery Rewards Coupons for Turkeys/Other Entrees

Donations can be dropped off at our Penn Street location, 452 Penn Street, Pennsburg, Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, with additional hours on Tuesdays until 7:00 PM.

SATURDAY EVENT: The Montgomery County Food Policy Council is excited to announce the launch of the Hunger Stops Here Campaign! The goals of this campaign are to increase awareness of and action to reduce hunger in Montgomery County.

Join the Council for a campaign kickoff with a community meal and resource fair on Saturday, October 3, from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM at Eisenhower Middle School, 1601 Markley Street, Norristown, PA 19401. The event is open to Montgomery County residents who are experiencing food insecurity and/or homelessness and to those working in food pantries or soup kitchens.

It's Hunger Action Day, and today, we're going orange and sharing our Plates of Power!

Sharing is simple. Follow these 4 easy steps:

1. Grab a paper plate 🍽️
2. Write how YOU take action against hunger - donating, volunteering, advocacy, etc. ✍️
3. Take a picture of you, your family and friends, or anyone else interested in taking action against hunger holding each of your plates - even better if you're wearing orange! 🖼️

Did you know that September is National Senior Center Month?

This month, we, alongside the more than 10,000 senior centers across the country, are celebrating the dynamic role that senior centers play in creativity, connection, purpose, and resilience in later life.

This year's theme, Happier Birthdays Happen Here, recognizes that happier birthdays for seniors don't start with just candles and cake- they start with connection, purpose, support, and community.

At The Center at The Open Link , alongside our monthly birthday celebrations and sweet treats, year-round, we promote healthy lifestyles, socialization, and volunteerism through programming focused on nutrition, exercise, education, and enrichment. Every day, our participants, volunteers, and community members can build relationships, access helpful resources, and experience opportunities that make each year richer than the last.

Here's to all of the senior centers making a difference in their communities!

The Code Blue season is quickly approaching! ❄️

Before the season starts, join us for a variety of Code Blue events:

🏠We're hosting a Code Blue Shelter Open House on Sunday, October 11, from 2:00-5:00 PM at 777 Main Street, Pennsburg. Tour the Code Blue shelter, learn about the upcoming 2026-2027 Code Blue season, and meet Code Blue staff and volunteers!

🧑‍🏫Interested in volunteering with Code Blue? Join us again during one of our new, returning, or administrator on call trainings!
*Please note that all new and returning volunteers must attend a volunteer training. New volunteers only need to attend 1 of the 2 trainings listed.
