Every day, we encounter opportunities to solve problems, make decisions, and create value. Yet when a new idea appears, our first instinct is often to focus on what is wrong with it, why it won’t work, or what potential problems it has. In fact, two seemingly harmless words can quietly shut down possibility before better thinking has a chance to begin. It is not because we lack imagination or good judgment. It is because our brains are naturally wired to detect risk, resist uncertainty, and protect what feels familiar.

Join Harvard instructor and innovation expert Susan Robertson for a virtual webinar on GPS™ Thinking, a practical, neuroscience-informed method that rewires how you respond to new ideas to unlock stronger solutions and better decision-making. Watch it live this Wednesday, October 21st at 11 a.m. CT or access it anytime in the archive with the link below.

Alumni family - here are more updates from President Diaz! Please note that events including Thursday's Community Street Party and Saturday's Alumni Association Homecoming Tailgate have been canceled. There has not been a determination about Saturday's football game vs. West Alabama as of this morning. Thank you to all of the crews and first responders who have been working tirelessly to clean up our beautiful campus and make it safe for students, faculty and staff to return.

Dear UWF Alumni,

In the wake of Hurricane Isaias, our thoughts are with our entire Argonaut family and everyone impacted by this devastating storm.

While UWF experienced significant tree loss and debris across campus, we are grateful that our students, faculty and staff are safe.

During challenging times like these, we are reminded of the strength, resilience and generosity of our Argonaut family. To those impacted, please know we are thinking of you. To those helping neighbors and supporting our community, thank you.

Go Argos,
Manny Diaz, Jr.
President

Please follow the main University of West Florida social media for updates, and we will provide relevant updates to the alumni community here as well.

Alumni Relations staff and their families are safe 💙💚 Thank you for your support and patience as we navigate this difficult situation. As always, Go Argos!

UWF President Manny Diaz says campus buildings largely escaped hurricane damage, but power outages and fallen trees are delaying reopening. Homecoming plans remain uncertain.
