Sometimes the best trips are the ones you don’t overthink.

For Josh, it started with a motorcycle meetup more than 500 miles from home, a few open days, and a simple thought: why not?

From there, the road took him a lot farther than expected, with new people, unexpected turns, and plenty of miles along the way.

The second mini-episode, Chasing the Open Road, is out now.

Reminiscing of the Legacy match. The best decision I’ve made in a while, for multiple reasons.

A few things learned.
1. I’m not as in shape as I used to be, it’s time to go harder in the gym. These competitions are all physically demanding.
2. You have to stay with the times. Gear and technology changes everyday. New gear is awesome, just make sure you’re proficient with it.
3. You’ll do better than you think if you just have fun.
4. Nothing is better for your mental health than hanging out with your best friends.

No motorcycles this time!

This past weekend was awesome.
My friend Joel and I competed in something I thought I’d never do after the military. We competed in the Legacy Team Sniper Match in Pennsylvania. Two days of long range shooting over a 2 mile course at the Ben Franklin Range. 18 stations of challenging guidelines and shots. Joel and I met riding Harley-Davidson’s a few years ago. So from motorcycles to shooting, here we are.

After spending years as a sniper in the SEAL teams and also a sniper instructor I surprisingly never had the urge to compete in competitions. But over the past year with a little persuasion from multiple friends of mine, I’ve realized this is something I used to love to do. So we jumped in head first this past weekend and had an absolute blast.
We may not be the best but we learned a lot and can’t wait to do another.

Five episodes. Countless conversations. One unforgettable journey.

Season One of The Journey Unbound took us across multiple states to sit down with veterans, first responders, and others willing to share their stories openly and honestly.

Along the way, we talked about service, moral injury, faith, purpose, healing, and what life can look like on the other side of some of our hardest experiences.

Here’s a look back at a few moments from Season One.

Thank you to everyone who shared their story, followed along, reached out, or found something in these conversations that resonated with them.

Moral injury can be difficult to explain.

For veterans and first responders, experiences during service can sometimes conflict with deeply held values and beliefs, leaving questions about identity, responsibility, trust, and meaning long after the moment has passed.

Understanding moral injury gives us language for an experience that can otherwise feel incredibly isolating.

Swipe through to learn more about what moral injury is, how it can affect someone, and why recognizing it matters.

The journey continues.

We’re taking you beyond The Journey Unbound with a new series of mini-episodes following more of Josh’s everyday life, from the hobbies and experiences that bring him peace to the people and places he encounters along the way.

It’s a chance to follow the ride and experience another side of Josh’s journey with us.

The first mini-episode, Behind the R***e, is out now.
