🍂 What a week, PESD! Fall celebrations, student shoutouts, and some great conversations with families. There's been a lot going on, and we have some fun moments to share!

🍁 First up, it's finally starting to feel like fall! Our Railway students got into the autumn spirit with a Happy Harvest celebration filled with student performances, books, and family fun. Board Members Douglas Corona and Carol Jimenez joined Superintendent Bruce Bivins, along with parents and staff, for the festivities. What a great way to welcome the season!

🏆 Over at Good Hope Elementary, there was plenty to celebrate, too! Our MSG students took the spotlight at this week's Board of Education meeting, sharing their work and showing off their leadership skills. And the students weren't the only ones getting some well-deserved recognition! We also celebrated Good Hope staff members for their excellence and the amazing work they do for our students every day. Way to go, Good Hope!

☕ And what's better than a good cup of coffee and some great conversation? Superintendent Bivins spent time with parents at Innovative Horizons for another Coffee with the Superintendent. We loved hearing from families, answering questions, and getting to know each other a little better. Thanks to everyone who stopped by! We hope to see you at our next coffee gathering at 8:30AM on October 23 at Railway Elementary School.

💙💛 So many great moments, and they're all thanks to the students, families, and staff who make our schools such special places.

Everyone Belongs. Everyone Leads. Everyone Succeeds.

Dear Perris Elementary Families,

At Perris Elementary School District, we believe every child deserves opportunities to learn, explore, build friendships, and discover their talents beyond the school day. We are excited to share several developments in our after-school program that reflect this commitment.

First, we are proud to introduce our new program name: Perris Elementary SD SPARK / CHISPA!

SPARK: Support • Play • Arts • Relationships • Knowledge

CHISPA: Comunidad • Habilidades • Imaginación • Servicio • Participación • Aprendizaje

CHISPA means spark in Spanish. These names were shaped through input from families, staff, and educational partners, including DELAC, DPAC, and DAAPAC committees, surveys, and parent meetings. Together, they represent our commitment to helping every student belong, lead, and succeed.

As we move forward, we want to sincerely thank Elevo for its partnership and contributions to our after-school program. We appreciate its role in helping us build opportunities for Perris students.

We are excited to welcome Stay After School as our new partner beginning November 2. This decision followed an extensive competitive selection process involving multiple organizations. We recognize how important consistency and positive relationships are for our students and families, and we are committed to supporting a thoughtful transition.

We are also expanding the opportunities available to our students:

Mariachi Music: Beginning in November, Herencia Mariachi Academy will offer instruction at Railway, Good Hope, Skyview Academy, and Innovative Horizons.

Coding and Robotics: New hands-on opportunities will help students develop creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Sports and Tournaments: We will continue organized sports, practices, and districtwide tournaments that bring our students, schools, and families together.

Academic Support and Enrichment: Students will continue enjoying meaningful learning experiences, creative activities, and opportunities to explore their interests.

These decisions were not taken lightly. Our focus remains on providing the safe, engaging, high-quality after-school program our students deserve. SPARK / CHISPA will continue to be led by Perris Elementary School District, working closely with our dedicated staff and community partners.

Family Voluntary Informational Meeting

We understand that families may have questions about these changes and what they mean for their children. We invite you to join us for a virtual meeting to learn more about our new partnerships, upcoming opportunities, and the transition to Stay After School. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️👟 This week, several of our PESD schools celebrated Walk to School Day, bringing the school community together for a fun and healthy start to their morning! 💙

Walk to School Day is about more than getting a little exercise. It's about building healthy habits, spending time together, connecting with neighbors, and reminding our students that they are part of a community that cares about them. That's what the Perris Promise is all about!

And judging by these smiles, our students had a wonderful time.

A big thank you to our families, teachers, and school staff who helped make these celebrations so special.

📸 Take a look at some of our favorite moments from this week's celebrations!

New year, new digs! Check out the new upgrades across PESD!

Skyview Academy students are starting the year in a brand-new, two-story building featuring modern classrooms, beautiful views, automated features, and innovative spaces designed for learning — including an art room that opens into an outdoor learning space. 🏫

And across PESD, schools have received new video entry systems that give front office staff greater control over campus access — another investment in keeping our students and schools safe.

Here’s to a great year of learning, growing and improving together! 💙
