Today's the day. Florida's mail ballot window opens, and Taylor County starts mailing ballots to voters who requested one. The window runs through October 1st, so yours might take a few days even if a neighbor's arrives first.

Already requested yours? No need to do anything but watch the mailbox.

Haven't requested one yet? You can still request by 5 PM on October 22nd at taylorelectionsfl.gov.

When it arrives, fill it out, sign the envelope, and mail it back early, or drop it at the elections office, 433 N. US Hwy 19 in Perry, weekdays 8 to 5.

We'll have a table at Smokin' in the Pines this weekend, Friday the 25th through Saturday the 26th, at 203 Forest Park Dr in Perry. Free admission all weekend.

Stop by and say hello. We're glad to answer questions about your mail ballot, what's on the November 3rd ballot, or where to vote.

One thing worth handling while you're thinking about it: October 5th is the last day to register or change your party for the November 3rd election. You can take care of that yourself at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov.

Come hungry. See you out there.

You may have seen news this month about a new federal rule for mail ballots. Here is the short version: a court put that rule on hold, and it will not apply to this election.

In Taylor County, nothing about requesting, filling out, or returning your mail ballot has changed. If you already requested one, you do not need to do anything else. If you have not, you can request one at taylorelectionsfl.gov through 5 PM on October 22nd.

Questions? Call the Taylor County Supervisor of Elections at (850) 838-3515, weekdays 8 to 5.

Think of a mail ballot as voting insurance, Taylor County.

Storms, a late shift, a truck that won't start, a sick kid. With a ballot at your kitchen table, none of that can keep you from voting. And if you'd rather vote in person after all, you still can.

Mail ballots for the November 3rd election go out soon. Florida gives elections offices a one-week window to mail them, September 24th through October 1st, so yours could go out any day in that stretch.

Already asked for one this year? You don't need to ask again. Haven't yet? You have until 5 PM on Thursday, October 22nd. It takes about 2 minutes, and have your driver license handy:

taylorelectionsfl.gov
(850) 838-3515
433 N. US Hwy 19, Perry

Not sure if you're on the list? Call the elections office, or just put in another request online. A repeat request won't hurt anything.

Heard the national back-and-forth about mail voting? On Monday the U.S. Supreme Court left in place a block on new federal mail-ballot rules for this election. Mail voting works this November the same way it has before.

When your ballot comes, fill it out and sign the envelope. Mail it back early, or skip the mail and hand it in at the elections office, weekdays 8 to 5. It has to be received by 7 PM on November 3rd. Postmarks don't count.

Byron "Data Center" Donalds caught lying, again. Working Floridians are struggling to make ends meet, while the insurance companies and others are donating tens of millions of dollars to his campaign so they can have a "yes man" in office who will preserve their get rich quick business models at our expense.

Sorry to miss the Byron Donalds press conference on insurance this morning in Pinellas. I’m headed to tour a community impacted by hyperscale data centers.

In the meantime, for those seeking the truth about a state catastrophic fund to reduce homeowners insurance by 60%-70%, this fact sheet is a good primer.
