RIP Ricky
Ricky Jakee, 64, of Independence, Kansas, was killed Monday afternoon, October 26, in a motorcycle crash involving a car at an intersection in Montgomery County, southeast Kansas. The driver of the car, Henry A. Bruhn, 62, also of Independence, was not injured.
The fatal collision occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Oak Street in Independence.
Jakee was riding a northbound 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Pennsylvania Avenue when Bruhn, traveling southbound in a 2006 Ford Ta**us, attempted to turn left onto Oak Street.
Investigators said Bruhn failed to yield while making the turn, and the motorcycle collided with the car.
Emergency medical personnel transported Jakee to Labette Health Independence Healthcare Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
