🚔 From the Chief's Desk
Thought you missed last week's report? Well, you did — but for good reason!
Last week, I had the privilege of attending the Ohio Police Chiefs’ Training in Southern Ohio. This was an incredible opportunity to connect with fellow police chiefs from across the state, exchange ideas, discuss the challenges of law enforcement today, and learn about new approaches to leadership, public safety, and community policing.
One of the greatest benefits of these training opportunities is the chance to learn from one another. Every community is different, but our mission remains the same: to serve, protect, and build stronger, safer communities.Bringing back new ideas and perspectives helps us continue to grow as a department and better serve the residents of Perry Village.
📊 This Past Week's Police Activity
The police had 143 calls for service over the past two weeks. There were 18 traffic stops resulting in 7 citations and 1 parking violation. There was 1 arrest for Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated (OVI). In addition to the traffic and parking violations, there was one K9 deployment where Lt Collins and K9-Pio assisted Painesville City Police with the apprehension of robbery suspects.
🚨 Training, Training, Training!
While I was away, several of our officers participated in ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training). This important training prepares officers to respond to active threats and critical incidents through realistic, hands-on scenarios.
These are the situations we hope never happen, but being prepared can make all the difference. Training together strengthens communication, teamwork, and our ability to better protect the communities we serve.
A special THANK YOU to our very own Officer Moore for providing the training and theMadison Local School District for providing a school building to make this valuable training possible!
🐾 K9 PIO Update
I’m happy to report that K-9 Pio is doing well and is home resting comfortably following a successful surgery!
THANK YOU to everyone who has reached out with prayers, kind words, and well-wishes for our four-legged officer. The outpouring of support from our community has truly been appreciated!
For now, Pio's only assignment is to rest, recover, and enjoy a little extra TLC! 🐾
We look forward to having him back on patrol doing what he does best, just as soon as he's fully recovered and cleared to return to duty.
⛳🏌️♂️ Pirate Pride on the Golf Course!
HUGE shout-out to Perry's very own Benny Dame!
Benny is making Perry proud as he heads into today's OHSAA State Golf Tournament just ONE stroke behind the leader!
What an incredible accomplishment and a true testament to his hard work, dedication, and talent!
The entire Perry community is cheering you on. Bring it home, Benny! ⛳
🏈 Friday Night Lights
Another HUGE shout-out to our Perry Pirates football team, who remain UNDEFEATED with an impressive 8-0 record! What an incredible season so far!
The Pirates are back on their home turf this Friday, October 16th, taking on the Edgewood Warriors!
8-0 AND STILL ROLLING! GO PIRATES!🏈❤️🖤
🎃 Halloween Fun & Safety Reminders!
Halloween is a few weeks away, but the fun has already begun. There are plenty of Trunk-or-Treat events and fall activities happening throughout our community!
I want to remind everyone to keep safety a priority. Drivers, please slow down, stay alert, and watch for little ghosts and goblins who may be more focused on their candy than their surroundings! Parents, make sure costumes are visible, carry flashlights or glow sticks, and remind children to look both ways before crossing the street.
A little extra caution goes a long way toward keeping Halloween fun and safe for everyone! 🎃👻
As always, thank you for your continued support of the Perry Village Police Department. Whether we're attending training, responding to calls, or simply connecting with our residents, our commitment remains the same — keeping Perry Village safe!
