To All City of Perry Residents,
The City of Perry is committed to maintaining clean, efficient, and cost-effective waste management services for our community. We are reaching out to ask for your immediate cooperation regarding the proper use of our community recycling drop-off containers.
Recently, we have observed an increase in household trash, bulk waste, non-recyclable materials, and plastic bags placed inside and around the public recycling bins.
Why This Matters
Contamination Destroys Recyclables:
When regular garbage or non-recyclable items are mixed with recyclables, the entire container becomes contaminated. Once contaminated, the entire load must be diverted to a landfill rather than recycled.
Service Interruptions:
Overflowing garbage around bins creates health hazards, attracts pests, and delays routine pickup schedules.
Acceptance Guidelines
Accepted Items in Recycling Containers:
*Flattened cardboard boxes and paperboard
*Clean paper, magazines, and junk mail
*Clean plastic bottles and jugs (labeled #1 and #2)
*Clean aluminum, tin, and steel cans
Prohibited Items (DO NOT PLACE IN RECYCLING BINS):
*Household trash and food waste
*Plastic bags, film, or bubble wrap (recyclables should be dumped loose into the bin, not bagged)
*Yard waste, brush, or dirt
*Construction materials or bulk items (furniture, appliances, mattresses)
*Styrofoam, glass, electronics, or hazardous chemicals
Thank you!
