🇺🇸 Happy Constitution Day! 🇺🇸

On September 17, 1787, the United States Constitution was signed—establishing the framework of our government and laying a foundation for the rule of law that continues to guide our nation today.

For those of us who serve in the justice system, the Constitution is more than a piece of history. It is a daily reminder that the law must be applied fairly, individual rights must be protected, and government itself remains accountable to the law.

Today, we celebrate the enduring principles of our Constitution and recommit ourselves to the responsibility of upholding them.

Rooted in Values. Steady in Justice.

Today marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001.

We pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day and to honor the extraordinary courage of the first responders, law enforcement officers, firefighters, service members, and ordinary citizens who answered unimaginable tragedy with selfless service.

Twenty-five years later, their examples of courage and sacrifice still challenge us. We also remember the spirit of September 12—a nation united by something greater than our differences, standing together as Americans.

Today, the Houston County Solicitor-General’s Office joins our community and our nation in remembering those we lost and honoring all who continue to answer the call to serve.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

⚖️ SMALL TEAM. BIG RESULTS.

Two weeks of jury trials are officially in the books—and once again, Team SG delivered.

We began this trial term with 113 cases scheduled for trial. Over the course of two very busy weeks:

🔹 14 juries were selected — 8 during Week One and 6 during Week Two
🔹 More than 70 of the original 113 cases were closed
🔹 Our 4 prosecutors worked alongside State Court’s full-time judge and an additional judge pro tem brought in to help keep cases moving efficiently

And jury trials weren’t the only thing on the calendar.

On Thursday of our second trial week, State Court held one of its largest arraignment calendars ever, with approximately 820 cases originally scheduled. Our prosecutors met with nearly 200 people who appeared for court that day—all while continuing to manage the demands of an active jury trial week.

Those are BIG numbers for a small office.

But none of these results happen because of prosecutors alone. Our Office Administrators, Victim Advocates, and Investigator work tirelessly behind the scenes and on the front lines—preparing cases, supporting victims, coordinating witnesses, managing files, and doing the countless things necessary to keep our office moving and make results like these possible.

Behind every number is a case that deserves careful attention, a citizen who deserves to be heard, and often a victim who deserves an advocate.

I continue to be incredibly proud of the work of Team SG. We may be a small office, but our team works hard, works efficiently, and continues to produce BIG results for Houston County.

Seeking justice. Serving our citizens. Protecting victims.

🚌 Slow down in school zones and obey all posted speed limits.
🚸 Stay alert for children crossing streets and walking near roadways.

A few extra moments of caution can make all the difference in keeping our children, bus drivers, crossing guards, and school staff safe.

This week has been a reminder that excellence doesn’t happen by accident—it takes a commitment to learning, teamwork, and a dedicated staff.

Our attorneys spent the week at the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia (PAC) Summer Conference, sharpening their skills through Continuing Legal Education to better serve the citizens of Houston County. The law is constantly evolving, and we’re committed to growing alongside it so we can provide the highest level of service and justice.

One of the highlights of the week was joining our friends from the Houston County District Attorney’s Office for a joint office dinner. It was a great opportunity to strengthen the partnerships that help make our justice system work each and every day.

While our attorneys were in training, business at home never skipped a beat. Our incredible office staff continued to keep everything running efficiently, effectively, and like a well-oiled machine. Their professionalism and dedication are the foundation of our office, and we’re incredibly grateful for all they do behind the scenes.

As a small token of appreciation, the staff enjoyed lunch together this week—on the boss. It was well deserved.

Thank you to every member of the Houston County Solicitor-General’s Office. Whether you’re in the courtroom, in the classroom, or behind the scenes, your commitment to serving this community makes a difference every single day.

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from the Houston County Solicitor-General’s Office!

As we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy as Americans, let’s also do our part to protect one another. If your plans include alcohol, make a plan before the celebration begins. Designate a sober driver, call a rideshare, or stay where you are.

One good decision can save a life.

We wish you and your family a safe, happy, and blessed Fourth of July weekend!
