We just want to thank our friends at OaksFeather Realty for helping us help out our community. What a blessing to have community members donate to our Shop With Hometown Heros program. With today's check, Oaksfeather has donated $1500 to the program. That is 10 kids that will be able to shop with a Hero for Christmas. Thanks Ladies!!!!!

Every closing helps us put a little more back into the communities we call home.

Through OaksFeather Realty’s Community Impact Program, we pledge $50 from every closing back to our communities. We let a few more closings add up, and this week we presented the Perry PD 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 $𝟱𝟬𝟬!

Perry PD has allocated these funds to its annual 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼, previously known as Shop with a Cop. This special Christmas tradition brings joy to nominated children and families in our community, and we’re grateful to help make that magic possible.

There’s something special about knowing a milestone for one family can help create a happy memory for another. Thank you to our buyers, sellers and agents who make these contributions possible, and to the hometown heroes who put their hearts into this tradition. ❤️

The Perry Police Department is proud of the outstanding work of our officers that led to the arrest and subsequent federal conviction of Nicholas Michael Freeman.

Freeman was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, co***ne, and co***ne base. This case began when an alert PPD patrol officer recognized suspicious activity, acted professionally, and conducted an investigation that ultimately led to the discovery of a significant quantity of illegal narcotics.

We appreciate the continued partnership of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida in holding repeat offenders accountable and helping keep our community safe.

SCHOOL ZONE WARNING PERIOD — PLEASE CONTINUE TO WATCH YOUR SPEED

The 30-day educational warning period for Perry's School Zone Speed Detection System is approaching its conclusion.

Now is the time to make certain that slowing down and observing posted school-zone speed limits has become a regular habit.

The school-zone speed detection system operates throughout the entire school day—not only while the yellow school-zone lights are flashing. When the yellow lights are flashing, drivers must obey the reduced school-zone speed limit. When the yellow lights are not flashing, the normal posted speed limit applies, but automated speed enforcement remains active.

The best outcome from this program is not a citation—it is a driver who slows down and a school zone that is safer because of it.

HELP US MAKE EVERY TRIP THROUGH A SCHOOL ZONE A SAFE ONE

Whether you're taking a child to school, traveling to work, making a delivery or simply passing through the area, everyone has a role in school-zone safety.

Watch for changing traffic conditions, pedestrians and school-related activity, and make checking your speed part of your normal driving routine.

Slow down. Stay focused. Protect our students.

YELLOW LIGHTS CHANGE THE SPEED LIMIT — NOT THE NEED TO DRIVE SAFELY

We've received an important opportunity during the 30-day warning period to help motorists become familiar with school-zone speed enforcement.
The easiest rule to remember is this: pay attention to the posted speed limit throughout the entire school day.

Our objective isn't simply enforcement. Our objective is compliance, reduced speeds and safer school zones.

A NEW MONTH — THE SAME SCHOOL ZONE SAFETY MESSAGE

As we begin September, the Perry Police Department reminds motorists that our School Zone Speed Detection System warning period continues.

The purpose of this program is to encourage compliance with posted speed limits and make the areas surrounding our schools safer.

Don't drive by habit. Look at the signs, know the speed limit and check your speed.

SCHOOL ZONE SAFETY IS AN ALL-DAY RESPONSIBILITY

Morning arrival and afternoon dismissal are especially busy times around our schools, but students, employees, parents and visitors may be present throughout the school day.

Safe driving around our schools should therefore be an all-day habit.

Please slow down, remain alert and avoid distractions. A safer school zone begins with drivers making safe choices.

The Perry Police Department is asking for the communities help, and is issuing a strong public safety warning following several recent local incidents where juveniles have been using gel pellet blasters, commonly known as "Orbeez guns," to shoot at people, vehicles, and property in our community. While these items are often marketed as toys, firing gel beads at unsuspecting victims, moving vehicles, or individuals who are not participating is dangerous and illegal.

The Real Dangers and Legal Consequences

Severe Physical Injury: High-velocity gel pellets can cause painful welts, bruising, and severe eye injuries if a person is struck in the face or head.
Risk of Escalation: Brandishing or firing these replica or projectile-shooting blasters in public creates a high-stress environment. Citizens or law enforcement officers may perceive the weapon as a real fi***rm, putting the juveniles at extreme and unnecessary risk of severe harm.
Criminal Charges: Depending on the severity of the incident and the age of the individuals involved, shooting these devices at people or property can lead to criminal charges, including:
Battery or Aggravated Battery
Culpable Negligence
Disorderly Conduct
Criminal Mischief (for property damage)

A Direct Appeal to Parents and Guardians

The Perry Police Department urges parents and guardians to talk to their children immediately about the dangers and legal consequences of these actions.
Know Where Your Children Are: Monitor what toys or blasters your children possess and where they use them.
Establish Clear Rules: Emphasize that gel blasters must never be pointed at people, pets, or cars in public spaces.
Accountability: Parents can be held legally or civilly liable for the actions and damages caused by their minor children.

How the Community Can Help
If you witness a reckless or dangerous incident involving Orbeez guns or gel blasters in Perry, do not confront the individuals. Instead, immediately contact the Perry Police Department at [(850)584-5121 or the Taylor County Sheriff's Office Communications Center at (850)584-2429. Provide a detailed description of the individuals, their location, and the direction they are traveling.

Let us work together to keep our neighborhoods safe, prevent tragic misunderstandings, and ensure our youth make safe choices.
