Little Library on Maiden

Well, THIS happened today. Ollie’s in Plattsburgh had the 99 cent book sale that I saw somewhere on social media but then somehow had forgotten to check out. We went in today with a different mission in mind and discovered a small corner with stickered books & paper items that you load into a hand basket and pay just a total of 99 cents. We picked up a pretty nice assortment of books for our little library as well as many duplicates to share.

We then thought about it for a minute & since there are two of us bought a second basket of books and had room left to add scrap booking/art paper, paper party plates, graduation decor that all had the discount dots to qualify for the hand basket sale. 80+ items for $1.98 (plus tax) Amazing, right? 😳

We didn’t even get back home before I grabbed a stack of books to put into Rulfs Little Library (They really do need books! It was almost empty) and then grabbed a big handful of the craft paper to drop off at the Peru Free Library- perfect for them to put away for a Valentines Day crafting activity. ♥️

Honestly, I am still riding that high. 🤣

Shout out to author Josh Poole who recently reached out to us to ask if we would be interested in adding his new high fantasy novel, “The Shards of Acrilon” in the Little Library on Maiden.

Josh has generously sent signed copies to 100 rural Little Free Libraries! We feel pretty lucky to have been chosen to receive a copy for our little library. Happy Reading! 📚

“The Ladybug Library” little free library (Charter # 203014) in York, Maine was another fun visit for us. We enjoyed the beautiful location enhanced by the fall foliage as well as all of the decor- both the ladybug theme & the added Halloween decorations . We also made a good book trade from our little library to theirs (and theirs to ours) while we were there . 📚

This adorable book-filled little free library in Mechanic Falls, Maine was one that we can finally check off! It has been on our list to visit for a couple of years! It is definitely as cute in real life as it looked in photos. Inside the little library the books have been painstakingly sorted by color as well as special sections for kids books. We had to grab our photos fast since we were quickly losing daylight! The pops of color in the surrounding foliage truly was an extra bonus. 🍁

(FYI- The misspelling of library is intentional. It was purposely made to look like it had been written by a child.)

Neighbors helping neighbors . ♥️

The GREAT GIVEBACK comes to the Peru Free Library in October. We will be participating in the GREAT GIVEBACK to collect food items for our Caring Cupboard. We started this food pantry about a year ago and it has been a welcome resource for many families in our community. Thank you to our generous patrons and community members for your donations. If you are interested in helping us continue this program, please consider donating any kind of non-perishable food item at the library. Items most popular are canned meat, breakfast bars, condiments, pantry staples, and hearty soups. Thank you in advance! Items can be dropped of during regular library hours.

We recently had a chance to visit the beautiful Ogunquit Memorial Library in Ogunquit, Maine. Wow! The historical stone library dates back to 1897. The library is both a cozy and welcoming space with a friendly staff who took the time to chat with us. The bonus (for me) was that there was a really unique little library just a couple of houses away with the most gorgeous succulent garden in a planter built onto the roof. ♥️

This post was a fun surprise. This was one of our very favorite visits. You will not find a more peaceful location for a little library. ♥️

One of our favorite things about having a Little Free Library on the grounds? Never knowing what someone will leave behind. 📚

We recently found this beautiful children's book with handmade bookmarks — how fitting is the one with the musical notes? 🎶

Pinnacle Stories Little Free Library is located on Pinnacle Road in Malone, NY. It is an unchartered and unmapped little library but is listed on The Little Free Libraries of Northern Franklin County Tour.

This very unique little library was like no other that we have visited with its stone mosaic doors, fairy lights and fun book loving gnomes decorating the outside. The little library was quite full & well stocked with a variety of books. 📚
