It’s not everyday you get to see us on a bicycle!

Our team had a great time helping young riders build their confidence and practice important bicycle safety skills at our Corona Creek Bike Rodeo!

From navigating obstacles to practicing safe turns and learning the rules of the road, these future cyclists put their skills to the test while having fun along the way.

Thank you to the students and staff who joined us, as well as Safe Routes to School for helping make these events happen.

We’ll be stopping at several other schools in the next few weeks, so stay tuned for your chance to catch us (or…at least Officer Cox) on a bike!

DUI Suspect Arrested Following Slow-Speed Pursuit

On October 18, 2026, at approximately 8:34 p.m., Petaluma Police Department officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run collision in the area of Garfield Drive.

Officers located the suspected vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Joel Martinez Manuel (31, Petaluma) failed to yield to officers, resulting in a slow-speed pursuit through Petaluma. The pursuit ultimately ended on South McDowell Boulevard, where Martinez Manuel yielded to officers and was taken into custody.

Following the investigation, Martinez Manuel was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (23152 VC) and evading a peace officer (2800 VC). Martinez Manuel was subsequently transported and booked into the Sonoma County Jail.

The Petaluma Police Department reminds drivers that operating a vehicle while impaired puts everyone on the road at risk. Help keep our community safe by designating a sober driver or utilizing a rideshare if you consume alcohol. If you suspect someone is driving under the influence, please report it by calling 911.

Today, Petaluma Police and Fire personnel responded to a rollover collision on Park Lane after a driver reportedly struck two parked vehicles and flipped over. The driver, who allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

We’re grateful no one was seriously injured and want to take this time to remind our community that fatigue can impact reaction time, judgment, and awareness.

With National Drowsy Driving Prevention Week approaching, remember: If you’re feeling tired, find a safe place to pull over and rest. A few minutes of rest could prevent a serious collision.
