The statement below is issued by Del. Kimberly Pope Adams and myself regarding the displacement of residents at Perry Street Lofts in Petersburg:

07/17/2026

🚨 Attention Residents of HD-82! 🚨

You may notice hazy skies or a slight smell of smoke over the next few days. This is due to wildfire smoke drifting south from ongoing wildfires in Canada.

At this time, there is no immediate cause for alarm. However, air quality may be reduced at times, particularly for children, older adults, and individuals with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions.

If you are sensitive to poor air quality, consider limiting prolonged outdoor activity and keep an eye on local air quality updates. Most residents can continue their normal activities while taking reasonable precautions.

Officials will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as needed. Please stay safe, stay hydrated during this period of extreme heat, and check on neighbors who may be more vulnerable to poor air quality.

Delegate Kimberly Pope Adams
House District 82
