Petersburg Healthy Start Loving Steps The program hosts a Community Action Network (CAN). We work with women, ages 20 to 40, while they are pregnant and after they have their child.

Crater Healthy Start Loving Steps is a home visitation program working to help reduce infant mortality rate and low birth weight in the cities of Petersburg and Hopewell Virginia. Crater Healthy Start Loving Steps, which is part of the Crater Health District, is a home visitation program working to help reduce the infant mortality rate in the cities of Petersburg and Hopewell Virginia. We also work with infants and toddlers up to age 2. The infant mortality rate in Crater health district is higher than in most other parts of Virginia especially among African American women. Our goal is to reduce that rate and make sure more babies are born healthy!
