Our crews had some unexpected help from a horse this week 🐴🚑

While walking up to a residence for a medical call, firefighters spotted Medic 281 approaching with a horse in the road ahead of them. The horse politely moved to the right, let the ambulance pass, then stopped behind our squad, providing traffic control while crews cared for the patient.

A courteous neighbor and an honorary member of the crew for the day!

Because We Care.

If a fire started in your home tonight, would everyone know where to go?

A home fire escape plan can help your household know what to do when every second matters.

🏠 Identify two ways out of every room.
🚪 Make sure doors and windows open easily.
📍 Choose a permanent meeting place outside.
👨‍👩‍👧 Practice a fire drill at home together so everyone knows what to do when the smoke alarm sounds.
🚒 Once you’re outside, stay outside and call 911.

Make the plan before you need it, then practice it together.

A new chapter in emergency medical service begins in Pflugerville this Thursday.🚑

At noon Oct. 1, Travis County ESD No. 2 — also known as the Pflugerville Fire Department — will officially become the City of Pflugerville’s ambulance service provider, transitioning service from Allegiance Mobile Health.

Behind the scenes, ESD No. 2 and Allegiance have been working closely to make the transition as seamless as possible. Both agencies will monitor emergency calls from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday to ensure continuous coverage as responsibility officially transfers at noon.

This transition also brings a more coordinated approach to emergency medical care, as ESD No. 2 will operate six staffed ambulances across its service area, with four positioned within Pflugerville. During life-threatening emergencies, firefighter-paramedics may also respond from nearby fire stations to begin advanced care while an ambulance is on the way.

It’s a coordinated approach built around one shared goal: providing dependable emergency medical care to the Pflugerville community when every second counts.

We’re grateful to Allegiance Mobile Health for its service to our community and look forward to this next chapter with ESD No. 2.
