Owning a business can give you flexibility. It does not necessarily give you fewer hours.

Christy and the group challenge the idea that entrepreneurs can simply work whenever they want. Parent entrepreneurs often work far more than 40 hours. They just fit those hours into different parts of the day.

Flexibility is valuable, but it still takes discipline, tradeoffs, and a lot of work.

He ran out of his own peppers.

Dave's Hot Sauce started with what David Neff grew in his backyard. Then demand passed what the garden could produce, and sourcing the right peppers anywhere else turned out to be hard.

His fix: he tripled the garden this year and planted it specifically for the sauce.
