🚒 A $10,000 INVESTMENT IN FIREFIGHTER SAFETY AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP! 🚒

The Phelps Fire & EMS Department would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Town of Alvin and the Alvin Fire Department for their incredibly generous combined donation of $10,000 toward the purchase of our new SCBA air compressor!

Our Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) provides firefighters with the breathable air they depend on when operating in Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH) environments. Whether searching for victims inside a burning structure, battling a fire, or operating in other hazardous atmospheres, having a reliable source of clean, breathable air is absolutely essential to keeping our firefighters safe.

Replacing this critical piece of equipment represents a significant investment, and this generous contribution will help ensure our firefighters have the resources they need to safely and effectively serve our communities.

We would especially like to recognize and thank Alvin Town Chair Herb Hoover, Alvin Fire Chief Craig Dobson, and Alvin Fire Department Member Stan Clause for their leadership, generosity, and continued commitment to supporting emergency services throughout our region.

🤝 This is what strong mutual aid partnerships are all about!

Our relationship with the Town of Alvin extends well beyond responding to one another’s emergencies. Phelps Fire & EMS proudly provides primary EMS coverage to the Town of Alvin, while the Alvin Fire Department remains a valued mutual aid partner. By working together, sharing resources, and investing in equipment that benefits both departments, we strengthen our emergency response capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and make responsible use of our taxpayers’ dollars.

At the end of the day, emergency services aren’t defined by township or county boundaries. They’re defined by our shared commitment to protecting the people who live, work, and visit our communities.

This donation is a tremendous example of what can be accomplished when neighboring communities recognize that cooperation, rather than duplication, allows us to accomplish more together.

To the Town of Alvin, Alvin Fire Department, and everyone involved in making this contribution possible — THANK YOU! Your generosity is an investment not only in equipment, but in the safety of our firefighters and the communities we proudly serve.

🚒 Pride, Dedication and Courage. 🚒

🚨 THIS OLD GIRL IS FOR SALE 🚒

After over 20 years with the Phelps Fire Department, our 2006 Pierce Contender Engine 1 is looking for a new home.

At 12,800 miles, this old girl has lived a fairly sheltered life. She spent most nights indoors, rarely went sightseeing in bad weather, and got considerably more uninterrupted sleep than the firefighters assigned to her.

But don’t mistake low miles for lack of experience.

She was saved for the big ones.

When this old girl left the station, there was generally a reason—and she performed extremely well when we needed her most. 🔥🚒

Unlike most things approaching legal drinking age, we also have a pretty good idea where she’s been every night.

The important stuff:
🚒 2006 Pierce Contender
🛣️ 12,800 miles
💦 1,250 GPM pump
💧 1,000-gallon tank
🧰 Comes with everything shown

And because apparently the truck wasn’t enough:

⛽ Full tank of diesel
💧 1,000 gallons of Phelps’ Finest H₂O

Yes, the water is included.

That’s over 8,000 pounds of genuine Northwoods water at no additional charge. Please factor that into your offer accordingly.

All jokes aside, this old girl has served Phelps extremely well, and we’d love to see her continue doing the same for another community.

🚨 Emergencies don’t wait. Neither should you. ❤️

Cardiac arrests, choking emergencies, and other life-threatening situations happen when we least expect them. In those critical moments, you could be the difference between life and death.

The good news? You don’t have to be a firefighter, paramedic, or nurse to save a life. You simply need the knowledge and the confidence to act.

🫀 Vilas County Public Health is offering a FREE Heartsaver CPR/AED Certification class on August 22nd. It’s an incredible opportunity to learn skills that could one day save a family member, friend, neighbor—or even a complete stranger.

A few hours of your time could give someone else a lifetime.

❤️ Please consider signing up or sharing this opportunity. The more people in our community who know CPR and how to use an AED, the stronger and safer our community becomes.

You may never need these skills… but if you do, someone else’s tomorrow may depend on what you learn today.
