Victory! We just passed HB 133 and HB 138 out of the House with overwhelming bipartisan support.
These bills are about holding together and reuniting families impacted by the child welfare system.
HB 133, which passed 191-11, creates a pathway to rights reinstatement for parents who’ve done the work to reunite with their children. Thank you to my colleague PA State Rep. Sheryl Delozier who worked closely with me across the aisle to get it done!
HB 138 passed 200-2, and protects incarcerated parents from unfairly and permanently losing their rights to see their family, solely due to incarceration.
When we talk about child welfare reform, we’re talking about supporting working class families. Poor, Black and Brown families.
Incredibly proud to do this work — drafting, advocating and organizing — alongside families across the state.
Philly Voice Philly Voice Children First PPC Community Legal Services and so many more led the way for this powerful, bipartisan victory!

Our white supremacist President is cowardly going to court to protect secret ICE police from scrutiny and accountability.
In Philly, we protect all of our neighbors no matter what we look like or where we from. And we don’t like bullies.
ICE OUT OF PHILLY

Great coverage today from on my and .sheryldelozier legislation protecting benefits for foster youth.
Excited to have the support of administration as we move forward towards a solution that aligns us with federal law.
Let’s get this over the finish line.

🚨🚨 CALL TO ACTION TODAY!
Tonight the School District will be voting on their updated school facilities plan, which would close schools across the city, including thriving ones like Robeson High.
We need to pack the house with neighbors and families and make our voices heard.
Save Robeson! Stop the closures! Save our schools!

Last Friday I got to be a guest judge for the High School Welding Competition! Contestants had to weld a miniature submarine model and were judged by the accuracy and integrity of their welding joints.
As a former STEM professional, I was right in my element in the shop watching young people from the Philadelphia area demonstrate a passion for their craft. The prize winners will be heading to San Diego for nationals. Congrats all!

We’re making progress. The School District announced today that their amended school facilities plan will involve preserving Paul Robeson High's building, instead of selling it off to a developer.
Let’s keep up the organizing. We can still save Robeson High, tax the rich and win the flourishing future Philly kids deserve.
