“I am heartbroken to learn of the death of Officer Shane Seiber, who died in the line of duty following last night’s officer-involved shooting. My prayers are with his family and loved ones as they grieve, and with his fellow officer, who, to my knowledge, remains in critical condition. I am also holding in prayer everyone who witnessed or was otherwise impacted by this violence.
This tragedy is another painful reminder of the devastating toll of gun violence on our communities. My office stands ready to support those impacted by this incident. As we hold everyone affected in our thoughts and prayers, we must also remain committed to building the social infrastructure, resources, and community-based supports that prevent violence before it occurs and help our communities heal. Every life lost is a profound tragedy, and every community deserves the opportunity to live in safety and peace.
