INCREDIBLE news: Martin Soto is FINALLY out of ICE detention. Martin, a father and spouse of a U.S. citizen, was apprehended by ICE in February while running a routine errand to buy diapers for his children and taken to Delaney Hall. In May, he emerged as a leader of a hunger strike protesting poor conditions. Following months of tireless advocacy by his wife, Gaby Soto, and support from Rep. Rob Menendez’s office, Martin was released last night and reunited with his family.
He can now follow up with his process safely without getting detained. Thank God.
I’ve added Gaby‘s Venmo to the final slide because this family has been through so much and they are struggling hard financially. It’s been unbelievably difficult for Gaby to work while advocating for her husband and caring for small children. Things are not going to be easy for them and any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Gaby is not asking for this —I am.
Finally a big thanks to Rep. Rob Menendez who was, by all accounts, extremely instrumental in securing Martin’s release.
