Pittsburgh FPM was with Rainbow Kitchen for a Community Resource Fair in Homestead to connect residents with essential resources. Other service providers included the Veterans Administration where HUD continues its VASH partnership to house homeless veterans.

HUD joined Delaware’s five Public Housing Authorities (PHAs), local elected officials, and housing advocates to celebrate the centralization of the housing assistance application process in the state, the first of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Hosted by The Hope Center, Regional Administrator Matthew Heckles shared the importance of this collaborative effort, which after years of work, and with all of the right partners in place, will lead to families having greater access to affordable housing in Delaware.

The Wilmington, Delaware Field Office hosted a Federal Homeless Resource Fair bringing together more than twelve federal agencies and key stakeholders including the Housing Alliance of Delaware to information share, provide education, resources and facilitate discussions on how non-profit organizations and local government agencies can access federal financial resources.

Tree Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Canopy Alliance engaged with HUD assisted communities in Allegheny County to enhance access to $8 million in funding from the USDA Forest Service to serve low-income communities through green scaping and training opportunities in landscaping.

HUD Deputy Regional Administrator Ashley Petrella, Supervisory Management Analyst Charles Anderson & Management Analyst Christian Manalac from the Philadelphia Regional Office attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Clearfield Apartments. Located in the Allegheny West neighborhood of Philadelphia, this new 48-unit multifamily building will provide affordable one-bedroom homes for seniors in the community.

The HUD Pittsburgh Field Office was with the Pennsylvania Association of Housing & Redevelopment Authorities (PAHRA) in Erie to discuss important updates to NSPIRE inspections, voucher programs, and opportunities to expand partnerships to enhance services for residents.

Over 200 attendees engaged with federal agency representatives, including the Washington D.C. Office of Field Policy and Management at a local event “Celebrating Belonging and Inclusion with Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Authors”. HUD staff provided information on First Time Homebuying, HUD-Approved Housing Counseling Agencies, subsidized housing, fair housing, and equal opportunity and how to apply for federal internships.

Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su was with the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh and the HUD Pittsburgh Field Office to announce the expansion of the Pittsburgh Workforce HUB to enhance training and employment opportunities for HUD assisted residents.
