Frank Dougherty, former Daily News writer spoke at the 2026 PVVM Memorial Day ceremony. Many who were able to attend have commented on the very moving keynote address that Frank gave. He was given the assignment by then editor, Zack Stalberg, to interview the families of the 630 KIA. (Additional names added total - 648). Take a moment to listen to his heartfelt words. Today, we honor and remember Lance Corporal Thomas O. Keeling, who gave his life in service to our nation during Operation Iraqi Freedom 21 years ago.
A Strongsville High School and Kent State University graduate, Thomas was known for his leadership, his dedication to others, and the positive impact he had on everyone around him. His service, sacrifice, and legacy continue to inspire.
