Share Food Program now has one of the largest rooftop solar arrays in Philadelphia. The hunger relief organization's Hunting Park headquarters is ~60% powered by solar energy ☀️

With help from Solarize Greater Philadelphia and Solarize installer Solar States , Share Food Program was able to reduce and stabilize utility bills. Share can now renewably and efficiently power the refrigeration units essential for delivering fresh, healthy food throughout the region.

Johnathan Miller, Chief Operating Officer at Share Food Program, spoke with PEA about Share's $35 million North Philadelphia warehouse renovation.

Have questions about SNAP’s new work requirements?

We’ve broken down some of the most common questions from the City of Philadelphia’s SNAP Benefits Frequently Asked Questions, including who may be affected, who may qualify for exemptions, how work activities are reported, and where to find help.

Brian Campbell Farms is one of the many in PA dedicated to making sure their surplus harvest goes to people who need it. Brian’s farm sends produce to food banks across the state, and this spring they donated over 100,000 pounds of sweet corn, cabbage, cauliflower, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, green beans, cantaloupe, apples and more to Share’s pantry partners.

Over 250,000 kids in the Philadelphia area rely on the daily free breakfast and lunch that they receive at school. But over the summer, that is two less meals a day that kids can count on. At Share, we believe that access to food shouldn’t disappear overnight. That's why our partner pantries and community fridges are available throughout the summer so that children and their families can count on having access to nourishing food.

With slashed SNAP benefits and groceries becoming increasingly unaffordable, more and more families are turning to Share for emergency food services. We need your help to keep our pantries and our neighbors’ plates full.

All donations will be matched by generous matching donors up to $5,000 until midnight on Friday!

Millions of Americans rely on SNAP to put food on the table and new federal requirements are creating uncertainty for many households.

Our Community Services & Operations Coordinator, Alfie Sosa, spoke with Telemundo 62 about how these changes could affect families, seniors, and communities across the Philadelphia region.

While some individuals may face new work-reporting requirements to maintain benefits, food assistance organizations are already seeing increased demand for support. At Share Food Program, we're currently helping approximately 40,000 seniors across the Philadelphia area through food distribution programs, and we're receiving more calls from people seeking help accessing food.

Food insecurity doesn't happen in isolation. When families lose access to nutrition assistance, the effects ripple through households, neighborhoods, grocery stores, and local economies.
