At 95 years old, Edward has seen Philadelphia change in remarkable ways, from milk deliveries by horse and wagon to the modern city we know today.

A veteran who served in Japan during the Korean War era and even climbed Mt. Fuji, Edward has also been a faithful supporter of Philly House for more than 30 years.

"Once I begin supporting an organization, I continue based on their records and what they do for people."

We are so grateful to supporters like Edward for their decades of trust, generosity, and commitment to our mission. THANK YOU! ๐Ÿ™Œ

โœจ STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Shalina, Case Manager โœจ

"I truly want to help make a change in the lives of the people I engage with in any capacity. Whether I'm serving a meal, engaging in small talk, or offering resources.

I believe this city has hardened our hearts to the point where we lack compassion for those that are in need, homeless, suffering from mental health issues, or just having a hard time in life right now.

We all need just one person that will not give up on us and I want to be that person for as many men and women who come through the doors of Philly House."

Weโ€™re so grateful for compassionate team members like Shalina who show up each day with empathy, care, and unwavering dedication to our community. ๐Ÿ™Œ

We believe people deserve more than just shelter- they deserve peace, stability, and a path forward.

When basic needs are met, healing can begin, and a new chapter becomes possible. ๐Ÿ“–

WHY DOES HOMELESSNESS EXISTโ“

The truth is, there is no single cause of homelessness. Itโ€™s the result of a mix of life circumstances that can quickly become overwhelming.

Factors like a lack of affordable housing, substance use, illness, disability, and other unexpected challenges often intersect, making stability harder to maintain than many realize.

Homelessness is complex, and more common than one factor alone can explain. Learn more here: https://ow.ly/OnxK50Z5iCr
