Yesterday, Rep. Andre Carroll created “Kada Scott Day.” The offered our deepest condolences to her parents and family.

Kada was a Penn State graduate and a Miss Pennsylvania competitor who had her own clothing brand. She was a beautiful, creative and multitalented young woman. 
 
We continue to mourn her devastating and tragic killing almost one year ago.

Kada you are still shining. Your light will never go out!

Meeting with community partners and welcoming guests to the Capitol is such a rewarding part of being Speaker! It was great to see so many old friends and new faces this week in Harrisburg.

This week, we bid a fond farewell to colleagues who are wrapping up their time as State Representatives.  💛
 
I’m highlighting three of our House Democratic Chairs, who are retiring after decades of service to Pennsylvania, starting with Rep. Mary Jo Daley , Chair of the Tourism & Economic & Recreational Development Committee and a fierce advocate for women. 
 
Thank you for all your hard work during your 14 years in the PA House and we wish you all the best in retirement!

This week, we celebrated three years of the PA Black Maternal Health Caucus Caucus. 
 
Three years of advocating for the equal care that all moms and babies deserve.
 
Three years of working to turn the tide on maternal mortality rates among Black women. 
 
Three years of real accomplishments, including access to doula care and mandatory postpartum screenings.
 
I am proud to stand with my Chairs Rep. La’Tasha D. Mayes , Rep. Gina H. Curry and Morgan Cephas in fighting for Black moms and babies in Pennsylvania, today and every day.
